My Awful Greed

Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours,
We both will win and that's for sure,
Don't worry 'bout the other guys,
We'll beat them down and watch them fry.

We'll climb the ladder, earn their trust,
Then treat them bad and show disgust,
And when we get control of things,
We'll see just what our greed will bring.

We'll find our riches, that I know,
And fill our hands with golden dough,
We'll be in charge with lots of power,
And be the tycoons of the hour.

I'm getting giddy with conceit,
As people grovel at my feet,
And wonder where I go from here,
I thought my future was quite clear.

Now who is he who stares at me?,
He's not the man I want to be,
But that is how I chose my life,
And soon it will be full of strife.

I'll lose my riches and my friends,
(At least the one's who did pretend),
And find myself a man in need,
A victim of my awful greed.

Don't be like me, so full of pride,
For life will often turn the tide,
And then you'll have no place to go,
Except to burn in Hell below.

This is a really great poem, a lot like mine lol. But no honestly this is really good, and it's really true, too. Great job!

I'm thinking Politics, but then it could be for many things...lawyers! Anthony

...I love this. It rhymes well, and not forced, and it tells a story too. And sadly it is so true. All I can really say is I love this, excellent write!
