Today Is Lost

Planning---the tomorrows
Yet to come
Spending many anxious moments
Worrying
For what?
Tomorrow's a devouring insatiable beast
Leaving you only enough time
To worry about tomorrow
Remembering---the yesterdays
In faded dreams
Stopping ever-flowing moments
Dead in their tracks
To return to the past
Yesterday's a thief stealing this day blind
For exaggerated memories
Now turned to stone
Today---sits silent
Through plans and remembrances
Way back in the corner
Where the light never dawns
And silently weeps
A piano---not played and---long out of tune
Neglected for tomorrow and yesterday
Who can dream
But never play

I dig this one. I interpreted it as commenting on how so many get so wrapped up in the future they forget about the present, and others who spend their time pining for the past, like those who miss high school way too much. It took me a couple reads to really catch it, but that may be due to the poetic structure or my being dead tired at the moment I'm writing this. I really have no idea. I may as well be drunk. But hey, I liked it when I read it.
