God, I Hated That Name

They dubbed me misfit, surely that was I
A bigger one, more true you'd never see
Like basketball and lemon pie, you see
Like gray and chartreuse oatmeal salt and tea
That bitter name did pierce my heart a'whole
Like starting up a flame within my soul
Like branding a big "M" atop my brow
Where sure to all my sin it would avow
I tried to suit my comrades' blood and vein
But clear to all it was to all disdain
For some hold clubs and some hold only hearts
Seemed clear to me we looked at polar charts
So I did try to find another way
In coffee houses, smelled a like bouquet
I hung with other misfits, so to fit
But even there I found that I misfit
For misfits were of egotistic kind
And each misfit each other so declined
I quit that troubled bunch and went away
To seek myself yet somewhere else to pray
Now neither I with misfits, nor fits, fit
Which caused me fits so grievous, as befit
Someone who neither fit the ins or outs
With ins, was out, with outs, was out, no doubts
I was in quite a quandary you'll agree
Then suddenly the answer came to me
That cured my crisis of identity
From that day on a not-fit I would be!

I wasn't in any one group in school. I kind of was in many groups, but got many labels for it. This was a good read and I could understand what the feeling was like here. No one fits everyones mold and so to someone, everyone is a misfit. You have found a group here that you fit well with and even though I don't get to spend much time here anymore I do enjoy your works when I can stop in! Good job, Anthony
