Blessings

Often when I see the sunset resting in the west,
And think about the day that now is gone,
I reminisce about the past and know that I've been blessed,
With gratitude I wait to see the dawn.

Often when I hold my kids, I thank the Lord above,
That love and joy has found its way within,
For when I look around about at how some other's live,
I understand the way it could have been.

Often there is discontentment and a lack of love,
And pain and sorrow have the upper hand,
Instead of putting family first, it's all about careers,
Instead of rock, they build upon the sand.

Seldom do I envy those who live with wealth and fame,
To have those things, they often paid a price,
So I am just content to live with riches from above,
And thank the Lord for blessings in my life.

I agree, to often we get caught up in the rat race. I love the way you remind us of just what is most important. Seldom do we slow down to appreciate just what our family means to us. Thanks.

We sometimes forget what is really important in life while we work to get the new car or house! Nice that you made me realize what is important! Anthony

Poignant comment on our times, David. Said with tenderness, yet with a ruefull wisdom. The lines hit square between the eyes. Our society certainly has twisted its priorities, "pain and sorrow have the upper hand," is a reality. Nice work.
