Courage Twice Over (free syle sonnet)

Courage Twice Over (free syle sonnet)

Courage is the stuff that men are made of
Willing to give their life for country's sake
The sparkle of their eyes is how you'll know them
And the brisk salutes with stiff arms that they give
Love of freedom is the thing they fight for
While their moms and sweethearts wait at home
Tying their yellow ribbons 'round the trees
While history marks the tales of higher rank
Who never see the war near to the front
Taking the lion's share for one and all
God praise the boys who naive are so brave
Shunning the one's who share the shadows tall
With sparkling eyes who have no arms or legs
Their courage yet the stuff that they're made of

Man, this is sad...but it's true, that's why it's more sad(der). I wish it isn't, but it is. So...it's..sad.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any solution for this kind of conflict, which is...like I said, Sad.
Thanks for the sad, but good...read.

I wonder if they do it for country sake or if they do it for their own, do they really care what their fighting for, I think they are just running away from home, I think these soilders don't really think their are gonna die, they just so desperatly need a reason to say good bye. Willing to die, that's not that hard to do, but it's selfish, to not care about the ones you leave behind, it doesn't matter who, and I would hate to think that our country's backbone is supported by sinful pride, and selfish glory, no I will say they don't expect to die, when I tell my kids the story, Great write, good job, thanks,

Regina

I see a lot of heart in this, but it needs a bit of a touch-up. A few lines (like the last one) could definitely be reworded.

Keep up the good work.
