Smoking
I made a new years resolution
to stop my smoking and lung pollution.
I'll fix my problems and start a new life.
I will never again have to deal with strife.
The first two days had been a breeze,
thought I can quit smoking these.
The forth day I started to look about,
at the resolution, then wanted out.
I needed a smoke and I went out to find.
A pack of cigarettes of any kind.
I put my money into a machine,
but it didn't give me anything.
So I had to start looking for an ATM ,
but I couldn't find not one of them.
I had no cash, but I've got a card.
Finding a store won't be too hard!
I saw a sign right down the street.
Thought this is going to be neat.
So I started to run down to the store.
Only to find a locked front door.
Sign on the door said," Happy New Year"
Though this day, I felt no cheer.
I need a smoke, but where to find?
Got to get it soon before I loose my mind!
Then I saw, the Stop and Go.
Thought they have smokes, this I know.
So again I started to make my run.
This day was beginning to not be fun.
The Stop and Go was closed too!
I thought Oh my God what will I do.
How'd I ever think I could stop?
My head was pounding, about to pop.
Then I remembered, I had a spare pack.
Started to run, I had to get back.
Once at my car, I opened the door,
and found the pack I thought to store.
I opened the pack and took one out.
This is going to be good, I had no dough.
Then the door closed I heard the latch.
Thought ain't this great...I have no match!

I know the feeling, an ongoing battle for me. This was my resolution as well, only I caved. :) I noticed the tense changes as well, but I actually think changing tenses throughout poetry makes it more interesting.
And then the panic sets in, then the jitters. This is comical, but not for the smoker, I'm sure. Luckily, I've never had that problem. Would you believe I've never in my life even once, tried to smoke a cigarette. OK, call me weird, but I've sure been thankful for my decision.
One small critique:
I noticed in this write that sometimes you use the present tense, then use the past tense, and back and forth. I found this takes away from the flow somewhat. It's an easy correction to make.
