My first poem went quite smoothly, but my second was very difficult and three times the emergency room found me on the brink of life. You are right... the obstacles overcome make the child so much more precious indeed. Thank you for sharing this!

I'm tempted to use this as an example of Rhymed Poetry for my Guide to Professional Writing.

Children can be a miracle depending on which side of the fence one is standing. Some people that are blessed with children really should not have them, while others who really want them and would be wonderful providers cannot have them. I find that some of the rhymes are slightly forced and in the third stanza, the rhyming scheme was abandoned entirely. The fluidity suffers a bit because of this.

My dear Anthony, you must have someone special in mind with this... but it will indeed touch many. I have just started stuffing envelopes for the March of Dimes 'Mother's March' in my neighborhood. This fits right in with the theme. I inserted into some envelopes a copy of my story about my daughter, Tanya. She benefited from the March of Dimes' generosity at birth, having two surgeries to help her survive to be the loving daughter she is today... and a mother herself, with hopes of another child soon as well.
No matter the circumstances before us, a child is a gift from God. Even as it is written, "God will make for good what the enemy meant for evil".
We shall look into the future, past the cost of this miracle, and receive the blessing.
How sensitive you are to this... you are always surprising me Anthony. Good luck to the 'intended'. Debbie

The poem is written quite well as long as you are happily married and want a child. But if you are a young person and a child is not planned, whether for unseen circumstances occur, then it is not such a miracle from Heaven.

Anthony,
This is an amazingly great poem. It's filled with so much hope and warmth and is very well written. I've had friends with terrible difficulties trying to have a baby, but when it finally happens, there just aren't words to describe the joy. Great write!!

Yet another wonderful read. Your work inspires the minds of many Anthony, me especially. This work of art you have created has brought a tear to my eye. For I am yet again pregnant with a child, my first success...Children are a wonderful joy given to us by god above. I could not ask for a better friend to keep my hopes and dreams alive. Thank you for yet again bringing that spark of hope to my life.

I identified a lot with this. Both my children were born through in vitro fertilization, and we thought our first had CNS toxoplasmosis while in utero. Those times really tested our faith, and it also helped us learn of our own selfish grasping and refusal to accept life on life's terms. Though I now have two wonderful, healthy children, I try not to covet them. Your poem reminds me of this-- that I do not own them; they are a gift from God and I am entrusted to help them complete their lives-- not mine. Seen that way, they are new and precious each and every moment. Thank you, Anthony.
