*Concept of Rakuhouha and Tenkuhaa belongs to Capcom. Deathscythe, Deathscythe Hell, Leo and Aries Mobile Suits belong to Gundam Wing and Bandai.
The plummet down the vortex created by the recently revived Wiseman, Mistress 9, and Rubeus was quite lengthy, allowing time for a bit of conversation as we dropped down the dark hole.
"How long will this take?!" asked Sailor Moon.
"I can't find an end in this tunnel anywhere..." stated Sailor Mercury.
"However long it takes, it's gotta end somewhere! Get ready everyone!" shouted Sailor Mars.
When the end finally came after a 10-minute drop, it was so sudden we hardly had time to react. A blue hole pierced the darkness and sent us falling into what appeared to be a metallic room. Everyone landed on top of each other in a pile of hands and legs best described as pathetic. When everyone finally crawled off of me, we did a roll call and everyone answered in the affirmative, and there seemed to be no injuries aside from a few scratches resulting from the scramble to escape the human pile. I took a look around the mysterious room and noticed its features.
It had metallic gray floor and walls, but the ceiling was black. In addition, there seemed to be no decorations or obstacles in the room. Finally I noticed a massive door behind us in addition to numerous smaller ones on the left and right sides of the room that seemed to glow as we walked further in the room, and they provided an unsettling red light to see by. Sailor Mercury strained to look into the distance, scanning for a way out or signs of life with her mini-computer.
While Mercury looked, Sailor Moon ordered us to spread out and search the room for an exit. Neptune, Uranus and Mars stood by Mercury while Moon, Venus, Jupiter, and myself investigated the red doors that beckoned to us. Sailor Moon, overcome by curiosity, touched one of the doors and a strange force threw her back about twenty feet! As she started to get up, the red glows grew brighter and a voice asked mockingly "Did you get a kick out of our force field?"
"Who's there?!" cried Moon.
"My dear Sailor Moon, have you forgotten me already?" asked the voice with a trace of contained laughter.
"RUBEUS!" cried Sailor Mars as she readied her Flame Sniper attack.
"Yes, yes!" he responded as he floated down from the ceiling and clapped. Behind him were Wiseman and Mistress 9!
"My two friends and I have a bone to pick with you meddlesome Sailor Senshi! And we have waited SOOO LONG to get this chance!" he continued. Regaining her composure, Sailor Moon asked "How did you and Wiseman come back, and how did Mistress 9 take over Sailor Saturn again?!" Still smiling, Rubeus said "It is something called Dark Lazarus Water. It seems to revive evil beings and if poured on a non-Negaverse lifeform, it brings out their evil potential!"
"Dark Lazarus Water? I haven't heard of that before..." said the confused Sailor Mercury.
"You wouldn't know of it..." added Wiseman. "It is a very rare item that takes great time and effort to obtain... our source took two Earth years to obtain it and nearly lost their life in the process." He went on to say "Our source revived us and gave Rubeus a sample on the condition of anonymity. Not looking a gift horse in the mouth, we gladly accepted. Once we isolated your friend Sailor Saturn, it was simple to capture her and bring back Mistress 9 with the Dark Lazarus Water!"
"DIE!" shouted Sailor Mars as she unleashed her Flame Sniper attack at Wiseman. It seemed to make impact, but then it simply dissapated and did nothing! She looked distraught as the three evil beings simply laughed at us!
"It's a special barrier. It's impervious to all but one attack, and even that one is quite costly..." crowed Mistress 9.
"You'll never figure out how to break through to us, so just hand over the Silver Millenium and make things easy!" cried Rubeus.
"Enough with the talk. If you will not surrender the item we seek, then we shall WREST IT FROM YOUR DEAD BODY!" shouted Wiseman.
"Come and get it, but expect a fight!" retorted Sailor Jupiter. As if in reply to the challenge, Rubeus merely sneered as he waved his right arm. The red force fields dissapated and strange clanking sounds were heard from within. At once we ran to the door in the very back of the room and assumed defensive stances. The source of the clanking sounds was a green-colored, human-sized and human-looking robot, or rather thirty-six of them!
"You should recognize them, you in the blue cloak! Think about it..." said Rubeus. In a few moments, I did recognize them. The robots were Leo Mobile Suits from Gundam Wing, and their machine guns were pointed at us! "Where did you get them?" I asked while nervously watching them. He replied "Our source let us know of a particular hobby of yours, and Wiseman twisted a fantasy into an unpleasant reality... but wait! I have a few more friends you should meet!" Waving his left arm, wooshing noises came from within the same doors as the Leos and twelve more robots flew out, these models being colored purple with yellow visors and large jet engines on their shoulders.
"Aries suits?! JUST GREAT..." I said.
Rubeus laughed hysterically and said "I believe you know these fellows too... what do you think of our friends?"
"Nice playthings..." said Jupiter. "Jordan and I will demolish them in no time!" While they resembled the Gundam Wing mobile suits, they were all human-sized, 6'0" tall and had weapons about the size a human would use.
"We shall see... NOW DIE!" screamed Mistress 9. With that command, the Leos and Aries suits moved into action. Everyone hit the ground as the Leo suits started firing their machine guns, and the Aries were flying to the attack. Springing into action, I drew my Moonlight Masamune and charged the nearest Leo, slashing its head off and proceeding to the next one while dodging a crossfire from the other thirty-five. Jupiter, Mars, and Uranus provided cover fire and destroyed about six of them while I closed in on a section leader with Beam Cannons mounted on its shoulders in addition to the weapon it held in its hands, this one being a Beam Rifle.
Emulating Deathscythe, I slashed the left arm off then cut its torso from the left to the right in one stroke. While I stooped down to grab the beam rifle, a shadow was cast over me by a hovering Aries suit! It aimed the chain rifle and prepared to fire, but fortunately for me Jupiter hit it with a Supreme Thunder Dragon attack and ran to my side. As I shot down another Aries I said "This fight will hinge on dodging and counterattacks..." "I need a strenuous workout anyway... and thanks for the tip!" said Jupiter with a smile.
With the others the battle was not faring so well. A Leo suit had grabbed Sailor Neptune in a bearhug and was hauling her towards a glowing pink spot in the floor. Try as she might, Sailor Uranus could not free her friend, and Neptune was dropped in the pink circle to be entrapped in a pink crystal cell. Destroying the Leo that had captured her friend with her Space Sword, Uranus was in turn grabbed by a duo of Aries suits that scooped her up and dropped her on a crystal cell. Forced into a retreat, the remaining six of us kept up the fight the best we could, destroying two more Aries suits and eight more Leo suits.
Emerging from behind the barrier, Rubeus flew at me with his right arm extended and a look of hatred on his face. While the others fought the Mobile Suits, I fired my beam rifle and tried to knock him down, but he weaved around each shot and dodged a final frantic throw of the empty rifle. I ducked to grab the Moonlight Masamune at my feet, but he was too quick. Grabbing me by the throat, he said slowly and hatefully "NOW YOU DIE..." Unable to reach the Moonlight Masamune, my vision was fading as I struggled to free myself of his tightening grip as he looked me in the face and laughed maniacally. Just when I thought that the end was near, a purple ball shot from nowhere and struck Rubeus' arm, causing him to release me and scream in pain!
"WHO DID THAT?! YOU WILL PAY WITH YOUR LIFE!" he groaned. A person holding a key-shaped staff dressed like the other Senshi fell from the ceiling, landed on her feet and looked towards the shocked Rubeus with a sly smile. "Always keep your guard up..." admonished the figure. A small pink-haired girl came from behind the first person and cried out "Hotaru, STOP! You're attacking your friends!" The first figure was revealed as the Senshi of Time, Sailor Pluto. The pink-haired girl was Sailor Chibi-Moon.
"Thanks for the rescue Pluto!" I said. She winked and said "No problem..." Taking advantage of the gap, I grabbed Rubeus and threw him into two nearby Leos, wiping them out and causing him further pain. "Now it is time to end this..." I said. Picking up my sword, I slashed four Leos diagonally and stabbed a fifth one in the head.
An Aries suit came barreling towards me on a strafing run, but Mars shot it down quickly and proceeded to take down a Shoulder Cannon Leo. Thirteen Leos and eight Aries remained, and the battle seemed to be turning in our favor... however, there was to be a surprise attack from Mistress 9! She tossed out three yellow rings that struck Chibi-Moon, Sailor Moon, and Sailor Mercury, the rings pinning their arms to their sides. Unable to move, Sailor Moon and Sailor Mercury were scooped up and dropped into pink cells by four Aries suits. Chibi-Moon was brought before Mistress 9, formerly Sailor Saturn.
"Hotaru! PLEASE STOP HURTING THEM!" she tried to reason. "Enough of this Hotaru business! I AM MISTRESS 9!" she said as a firm slap struck Chibi-Moon's face. Crying more from sadness than pain, she cried to Hotaru "We're friends! Friends don't fight each other and help evil!" With a sadistic smile, Mistress 9 said "I have something that will shut you up..." Raising her right hand, she placed her left one on Chibi-Moon's head and laughed as a pink orb formed above her head.
After the process was complete, Chibi-Moon fell limply to the floor and was kicked aside by Rubeus.
"Good riddance... her pathetic begging was making me mad... her soul is safe with Mistress now!" he declared.
"YOU'RE A HEARTLESS MONSTER!" cried Sailor Moon.
"Small Lady!" cried Sailor Pluto as she rushed towards her fallen friend. She did not reach her before three Aries suits strafed near the running Senshi, inflicting several moderate graze wounds. Falling to the ground, Sailor Pluto reached out for Chibi-Moon's limp form and was stopped by a Leo pointing its 50-caliber machine gun at her head. Acting quickly, I rushed in and grabbed Pluto before it fired while Sailor Jupiter dealt a Coconut Cyclone to three suits beside it. Having rescued her, we retreated to hid behind the crystal prisons of our friends.
"Someone's gotta put a stop to those three... but how to breach the barrier?" mused Sailor Mars.
"I got it! But I'll need cover..." declared Sailor Jupiter.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Trust me Jordan!" she pleaded. I agreed and listened to her plan. "I will get close to them and unleash Jupiter Oak Evolution while the others still capable come in with their attacks. But I'll need cover!" she said. Arming a Leo machine gun I found behind Mercury's crystal, I prepared to step out and shoot down a few Mobile Suits to cover Sailor Jupiter.
"One... two... three!" came the count from Mars. I opened up on a Leo near Chibi-Moon, making it do a grotesque dance as I riddled it with armor-piercing bullets. Mars used her Mars Fire attack to wipe out two Aries suits, and Venus used her Crescent Beam Shower to rain down upon two Leos. While we distracted the Mobile Suits, Jupiter made it through and started charging for Jupiter Oak Evolution.
"You'll never pierce our aegis!" crowed Rubeus.
"You're only wasting your time..." mused Wiseman.
Mistress 9 merely laughed. "Hurry up Jupiter!" cried Mars as she was being seized by an Aries suit. I leapt up and cut the Aries in half before it could fly away, saving Mars and throwing my Masamune through a Leo's head to save the badly injured Pluto from another Leo. "Five Aries and eight Leos left!' cried Sailor Mercury. "I'm ready!" shouted Sailor Jupiter.
"JUPITER... OAK... EVOLUTION!"
"MARS... FLAME... SNIPER!"
"CRESCENT... BEAM... SHOWER!"
"Leo Barrage!" I said as I dropped the machine gun and grabbed a beam rifle and started firing at the evil shield.
The four attacks hit the barrier and exploded. "All right!" crowed Venus as the smoke cleared, presumably revealing a victory. What showed was instead three triumphant villains!
"Fools! I told you NOTHING can pierce this barrier!" cackled Rubeus.
"Remember, there IS a way... but it's quite costly!" gently chided Mistress 9 with a sadistic smile.
"For Chibi-Moon's sake, and for all the others... there's only one option left!" said Jupiter to me.
Feeling a wrenching sensation in my stomach, I recovered my blade from the Leo's head and analyzed the situation. There were only four Senshi left active, one badly injured, and three powerful villains behind a seemingly impenetrable barricade! Sailor Jupiter looked me in the face and started to back up. Immediately I felt my heart hit the bottom of my stomach.
She was deep in thought for a moment, then said to me "There is only one option left... I must charge the barrier and hit it with my body! It's the only way to breach it!" "There must be another way!" I beseeched her. In reply, she only looked me in the eyes and said "I love you..." I choked and fell to my knees as she began her dash towards the barrier, the remaining Mobile Suits opening up in a desperate attempt to stop her. Wiseman asked "What does that foolish girl think she's doing?!"
"FOR JUSTICE AND PEACE!" Jupiter cried as she neared the dark barrier. "Ten yards... eight yards... six yards..." Mercury counted aloud the distance between Sailor Jupiter and the three villains. When she struck the barrier, the red streak from my dreams shot across her and she screamed as she fell to the ground. "NO! JUPITER!" I cried out as I saw her slump to the cold metallic floor. As the others screamed her name, a wave of feelings swept over me as tears blurred my vision.
"My source of peace shattered! The one person who accepted me for who I was! THE ONE I LOVED! SHE SACRIFICED HERSELF BECAUSE I WAS TOO WEAK TO DO IT!"
I thought. The world became a blur as I cried, and Rubeus mockingly crowed "Poor Jordan! His girlfriend sacrificed herself for nothing! But don't worry... you will be re-united soon!"
"Leos! Bring his friends to us, then bring him! My soul collection will grow!" cackled Mistress 9.
"He is beaten, and our barrier... WHAT?! OUR BARRIER COLLAPSED!" declared a distraught Wiseman.
"They figured out how to break our barrier... but we can handle them!" said Mistress 9.
"Yes... now I shall deal with his blue-haired friend first! He seemed to like her as well..." muttered Rubeus.
As I sat on my knees, sadness turned into burning rage. Hatred, anger, and sadness combined to create an overwhelming fury as I saw a mental picture of Jupiter falling before the leering villains again and again. A strange power flooded my body, and I began to levitate...
"I sense an even stronger power coming..." warned Wiseman.
"Where from?" asked Rubeus. "The boy? He's beaten! I'll get him last. Now for Sailor Mercury..."
When I levitated, I felt a dark power flood my body. I raised one fist, extended my index finger to form a one, and shook as a transformation took place. I saw my armor darken from blue to black and my cloak transform into the black batlike wings of Deathscythe Hell Custom. And the color of my visor turned from the normal blue to a blood red hue! The transformation was complete, and I felt an urge to destroy...
"It'll be quick..." Rubeus said as he grabbed Sailor Mercury's head to drain her soul. "HELP ME JORDAN!" I heard her scream. Through my crimson vision I saw Rubeus laugh as he started the process. "NO... NO ONE ELSE WILL SUFFER!" I shouted. He turned around and asked "What... WHAT ARE YOU?!" as a look of fear crossed his face. "I AM SHINIGAMI... AND YOU ARE MY NEXT VICTIM!" I said slowly.
Drawing my Moonlight Masamune, I flew towards him on jet-powered wings of vengeance. "GAAAAAAH-" he choked out as I stopped and rammed my Masamune down his throat! "CHOKE ON THIS..." I told him as I lowered him to the ground, his blood staining the ground before me. Everyone gasped at my drastic appearance change and violent demeanor.
"Please, show me mercy... SPARE ME!" he moaned, but I showed him none.
"YOUR KIND MAKES ME SICK!" I replied as I flew into the air above him, raised my right fist, gathered red power within it, and flew down slamming my fist into his prostate form in the Rakuhouha (Fallen Phoenix Crush). He screamed as he disintegrated before my red energized fist and the resulting concussion wave scattered nearby Mobile Suit parts every which way, then I turned my attention to the nine remaining Leos attacking Venus and Pluto. One by one, I cut them apart mercilessly and ripped arms off in a savage fury. The remaining Aries came, and I leapt into the air and destroyed all of them with another special technique, the Tenkuuha (Sky Command) charge attack. They crumpled to the ground, but I sustained some damage to my left arm as a result of tackling them.
Turning my crimson gaze towards Wiseman, he started to attack desperately with a barrage of dark energy beams, but I effortlessly dodged them and appeared behind him. He turned around and had just enough time to raise his arms in defense before I cut him in two from the head down. His two halves disintegrating beside me, my gaze then centered on a visibly frightened Mistress 9. Barely missing a step, I grabbed Mistress 9 by the head and started to squeeze her skull.
"HELP ME!" she screamed.
"NOTHING CAN SAVE YOU FROM SHINIGAMI, SO MEET THE REAPER LIKE A GOOD GIRL..." I growled with a devilish grin. She screamed louder as I applied more pressure.
"STOP JORDAN! SHE'S SAILOR SATURN!" cried Sailor Moon as she broke free of the crystal prison. I said nothing as I tightened my grip. A small pink crystal dropped from her quivering hand and shattered on the floor, which freed all the trapped Senshi. "LET HER GO JORDAN!" pleaded Sailor Venus. After a minute of thought, I tossed Mistress 9 aside and glared at her as she cowered against a wall. Feeling a tug behind me, I saw Sailor Uranus pulling my arm.
"GET...AWAY FROM ME!!!" I shouted as I threw her aside like one tosses a ragdoll. I then returned my attention to Mistress 9/Hotaru, my mind still a seething cauldron of hatred and sadness burning with desire to smite the last of the villains before me. I felt a second tug on my arm, and I said "WHAT NOW?!" Through the red haze, I saw Sailor Jupiter standing to my side! When I saw her smiling face the feelings of peace and tranquility returned to my mind, and the raging volcano of hatred towards Hotaru weakened a bit.
"MOON HEALING ESCALATION!" called Sailor Moon. I felt myself collapse to the ground and saw my black armor and demon wings return to the blue armor and blue cloak I had known before. Mistress 9 was no more, and Hotaru stood before me as I lay on the ground.
"The pink crystal that freed us also freed Chibi-Moon and Sailor Jupiter's souls!" said Sailor Mercury.
"Your Shinigami transformation was creepy! How did you do it?!" asked a concerned Sailor Venus.
"When I thought of Jupiter falling before them and heard Rubeus laughing, I lost control of myself but gained a great power..." I replied.
"Shinigami... the God of Death!" said Sailor Mars. "You earned that name through and through! Hopefully I won't have to see that side again for awhile..." she added. Everyone quickly agreed.
Chibi-Moon and Hotaru stood before me smiling. "I would like you to meet my best friend Hotaru!" beamed Chibi-Moon. Hotaru bowed and said "Nice to meet you..." I felt a bit guilty for nearly killing her, but I recovered and said "I am Jordan. Nice to meet you as well..." Standing aside from the others, Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto were having a whispered conversation.
"Should we tell her?" Neptune asked Uranus.
"It's best to let her forget the whole episode..." counseled Pluto.
"But what if Jordan's Shinigami transformation returns?" asked Uranus.
"We'll cross that bridge when it comes..." said Neptune while viewing a scene transpiring between Sailor Jupiter and Jordan.
I hugged Sailor Jupiter with my right arm and struggled to wrap my injured left one around her and cried. I thought I had lost the most important person in my life forever, but fortunately it did not come to pass. As I looked into her beautiful green eyes, I felt the sense of peace I always felt around her, one that was present ever since we first met. She returned my hug and my gaze, and we all walked out of the wreckage-strewn room into a portal that opened when Mistress 9 was vanquished.
Things were supposed to be a happy ending, but one thought troubled me. I had become Shinigami to avenge Makoto... but what if that transformation cost me more than an injured arm next time? What if Sailor Moon couldn't stop me next time? What if Shinigami cost me all I loved? Those questions troubled me even as I held the one I loved the most, my dear Makoto, in my arms.
