The Ice Ages
by Richard Reed Jr
copyright 02-23-2006

Age Rating: 7 to 127

Age forty took me somewhat by surprise
I could not see so clearly with my eyes
Then I began to see more with my mind
And I found out I was not quite so blind

I felt like a poor race horse out to feed
Another one took my place with his speed
My favored sport I could no longer play
So I became a coach and found my way

Age fifty was perplexing I'll admit
I was no longer sure just where I fit
Was I still young or was I really old?
With sliver in my hair and years of gold

When people now began to call me sir
I wondered just to whom they did refer
Oh well I guess they could have called me pop
And asked me if I still danced the "bebop"

Age sixty I began to fall apart
Cheerios could not give me a start
My address book was now a boon to me
'Cause every address ended with "M.D."

I thought that in my mirror I was faced
By whale of blubber 'round my paunchy waist
I thinned my food and increased exercise
Then devised a plan that was health-wise

Age seventy I heard his ringing chime
And knew that I was now on God's good time
I loved the world much less than I loved him
And felt my cup had been filled to the brim

Age eighty came and I began to fear
Perhaps I would not be around next year
I kept myself away from that soul-taker
To give it to my heavenly creator

I don't know if age ninety I will reach
What time is left I know I'll surely preach
I'll pray to be one of my Lord's subjects
And thank him for this world and for the next

You have a great mind and you know how to use it. As long as you excersise your mind, then the rest will follow, (is that a song?) NE Ways, The older we get the more mature in the Lord we become, and so we develop a more personal experience with him, and ultimatly, die to be with him. Anybody can get to heaven who keeps their faith, By God's grace, and grace alone, that's true, but if we love the lord then we wouldn't want to do bad things, that's not to say people who do, don't love him, it just means they are still babies in christ, they are imature in their faith, and they have not grown to know him on an intimate level, we all need to organize our inner world, and the outer world will reflect that, the older we get the more we relize it, Great write, good job, thanks,

Regina,

I love the way you write!!
