Drown

I stand and watch the sea
The ocean waves crashing on the boulders
Wearing away the stone
Yet, they still stand strong after years of waves
The sea is so familiar to me
I've lived next to the sea ever day of my life
I watch the waves crash upon the sand
I watch it's power
I stand in it's surf
I ride the waves
I swim against the tide
I'm strong and know how to fight the tides
I've fought against the sea
The sea is like a home to me
I have no rational fear
When I first dive under
I've taken in a breath under the waves
Air enters
Not water
How?
I couldn't say
Yet, my dreams tell me differently
Ever since I was a child and nearly taken by the sea
Even though, I'm much stronger now
I feared the sea
I was falling into the sea
Now in every dream I have
Every day
I'm being pulled into the sea
The neighborhood is flooded
I walk across the street
I walk over to the dock
I take one step too many
I fall in
I'm pulled into the sea
I try to breathe
Water enters my lings
I'm pulled under the waves
Never to see the sun shining again
Wind and rain pull me under
And I'm sucked into the sea
I believe I can't breathe
And I die
I wake with a start
Broken out in a cold sweat
Why?
Why do I fear the sea?
The very sea that has my earliest memories
The memories from...
They day before the beginning of my time
So why?
Why do my dreams fear the sea?
Dreams of the sea...
Why do you attack me?

Hi Leigh-chan,

This is very deep and psychological, but written in painstaking detail. I got caught up in it and couldnt't get out. Does the sea represent someone(s) you love, and fear at the same time??
Very professional writing to my ears.

Rich

Wow! thats awsome, its like your afraid of something you used to love....It happened to me (with bugs! :D) sorry about that but this poem has a lot of emotion, something you rock at! I noticed that you said Water enters my lings and isn't it suppost to be lungs? but beside from that its totaly awsome! You're a great writer and like I always say: Keep Writin'!

Wow!! Very vivid, and it made me form little pictures in my head! (Which is good...) I liked it! It made sence, it flowed and I thought it was very interesting. Not many things people love and can fear at the same time. I know that feeling...

Anyway, GREAT JOB!

I can't wait to read more!!

We all have fears inside us. Usually it comes from some experience or something that scared us early in life. I love the sea, but it don't love me. I get sea sick a lot! Anthony

Wow. That was astounding. Heart-rending, too, in a way. Wow, Leigh, you blew me over. I'm at awe! It's so deep and so beautiful! Like the waters of the sea wove this themselves! I love this poem, Leigh! It's one of the greatest I've heard from you!
