Visualizing Nothingness
by Richard Reed Jr
copyright 02-14-2006

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Be still and quiet,
Think no Thoughts
But, don't hold them back.

If thoughts should flow
When they come let them go,
As you would let go birds
Trapped in a cage.

We are like the sore-eyed who
Cannot see the tranquility
Of the undisturbed ocean.
We try to understand the
stormy seas as they arise
And we cannot.
Only through not-understanding
Will we understand.
To see into the emptiness of
The dark skies above the storm
One will truly see.

We are like persons
Looking for the camel
While riding on
The top of the camel.
Using our minds to find
Our minds is impossible.

Visualizing nothingness
is as far as you will come
To understanding yourself
And your place in the Universe.

I don't understand, visulize nothing, focus on nothing, If you can see it, you can be it, if you beleive, you can acheive, change your mind, you can change your life! thoughts become things, I think, therefore I am! understanding our mind, with our mind, no my friend, but I understand my mind through my heart, I understand my heart through my mind, connecting the hard wiring of my mind, with the soft wiring of my heart through my fingertips! That's how I see, our soul doesnot speak English, it reads symbols, so if our soul sees nothing, but emptiness, and void, then how will it find it's purpose, receive it's direction, I cannot accept that I must not search for my chariot because I am riding on my chariot and I am not aware, how can I not be when I feel it so strongly, I might not see with my eyes, what I know to be true, but I see the truth because I seek the truth in all that I persue, I feel whats real and when it's not I feel that too. Sometimes we have to clear our minds, everyday, I presume, but not to understand, but to make room, clean our mind get rid of anything old, out worn, out dated, unused, stale in our mind, thoughts that no longer prove to hold true, thoughts that prove to only hurt and not help, such as negative thoughts, preconceptions that will hinder our pleasure, and cleaning our mind, preparing ourselves for universal conciousness, one mind, one body, one soul, I know you are real because you are me, I know God is real because he is me, Jesus said I cannot deny you because I cannot deny myself, once we realize we are one body, only then will we truly know who we are. Until then we keep moving foward, always doing better than before, being the best you you can be, not anyone else, but ourselves, if we're a toe, then be a toe, don't try and beat a thumb, we need all our body and nothing or no one is more important that anything or anyone else,we are all conected, we have to find the connection. How? How do you move your fingers, you don't think about it you just do it, just do it, get past the judgement, nothing is good or bad it just is, accept things for what they are and know that thats the way it should be we don't kiss with our ears and we don't hug with our mouth it's not good or bad it just is. I am soo sorry I just did this but I can't erase now. Please don't be upset with me, I do understand what you were saying and it's a great concept but it can't be that way all the time. sometimes we have to "try" something even if it's wrong we must try it, in every failure lies within it the potential for success. Okay I'll quit now I have no Idea what I just said, or where it came from, it just came out, I've been doing that alot latley. Great write, good job, thanks,

Regina

Oh, I love this poem, the feeling of complete futility and the incapabity to understand what Is and what Is Not.... ahh, so eloquent too. This is one of those poems that would spark an amazing debate, and has actually sparked a few ideas in my own mind. This is an idea that I like to toy with...-wanders off in thought- Ahh...must go dig up some old manuscripts now. ^_^ I love this piece though, one of your best I think.

Wow, talk about dark... Wrote this in a dark mood, huh? I was in a similar mood when I wrote my darkest poem, "Hope."
"Hope, such a futile emotion."
That one line sums up what the open is about. Very good, it's also very true. There's a few grammar mistakes and you don't need punctuation at the end of each paragraph, also commas are not necessarily needed either. We shall never understand everything and everyone. We can hardly understand yourselves at times. It's such a complex world we live in and we're all forces into places we can't look around and try to understand what's going on around us. We're ll cough up in the computerized and fast place world which we live in today. Good work, very creative. We're all trapped by something, and sometimes it's even those who we know as friends. We don't want to leave loved ones and friends behind no matter what the costs at times. If it's not our hearts it's our fear that's keeping us blind to the world around us. Such futile beings we can be, can we not?

May the divine darkness be with you,
Leigh

You capture nicely what meditation is about and the feeling of oneness and peace that should result when practiced. From reading the poem, I get the paradoxical sense though, that it cannot be learned. You can state or declare what would result when meditation is practiced, but everyone must learn for himself, with a gentle push, realizing just how hard it is to clear the mind, yet-- when practiced-- should really be an easy thing to do, since our "Buddha nature" is really what has been there all the time. Your poem reminds me of all these things.

Jim
