Footprints In The Sand
by Richard Reed Jr
copyright 03-02-2006

Age Rating: 7 to 127

A plot of land,
Covered with sand,
Lies in front of my seaside cottage.
Sometimes I can see,
Footprints in the sand.

I wonder who,
Left their imprints,
Passing by my life,
As perhaps they wondered,
Whose life their paths had crossed.

As perhaps you wonder,
About the life behind these words,
As I wonder if I leave any
Footprints in your sand.

We will never meet,
Sad though that may be.
We will share life,
Only indirectly.

Yet, I'm afraid to know you well
As once I knew a special friend,
Who knew my every habit, as I knew hers,
As we walked in lock-step together.

We both left many,
Footprints in my sand.
I knew her well, I know you not.
I need your footprints in my sand,

To help me forget that day in May,
When the tide came in,
Rushing back out and away,
Stealing her footprints in the sand.

So now I sit and wonder,
Gazing at the sea shore,
Wondering about you and me,
Are we no more than footprints in the sand?

A fear of new love? The fear created by one that faded away? This is what I see today.. I'll come back, as I have been here before.. perhaps the layers will reveal more then?

I'm looking sir, can't you tell, although, I must say, I don't know you very well, I hope to one day understand, and find your footprints in the sand. Great write, good job, thanks,

Gina

Everyone that we meet and get to know, leave footprints in our sand. Some are subtle and some are not. Some of the prints are profound and some barely leave a mark. We learn to live our lives by what we see and learn, well at least most of us. Our friends help guide us along, but so do the ones we wish not to remember. Lost loves are strong footprints and they may never get filled all the way. I liked this as usual. Thanks, Anthony

This poem reminds me of the inspirational thought on God. It is a very beautiful piece of writing and it reads this:One night I had a dream.I dreamed I was walking along the beach with God and across the sky flashed scenes from life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonged to me and the other belonged to God.When the last scene of my life flashed before us, I looked back at the footprints in the sand.I noticed that at certain times along the path of life, there was only one set of footprints.I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of my life. This really bothered me and I questioned God about it."God, you said that once I decided to follow You, You would walk with me all the way, but I noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints in the sand.I don't understand. Why in times I needed You the most You would leave me?" God replied," My precious, precious child, I love you and would never leave you during your times of trials and suffering. When you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I was carrying you."

I watch as our path grow further and further apart. I can see us parting and only hold memories. I gaze out wondering, how much longer shall we be together? I know soon, sooner than I will it to be, you'll be a shadowed memory to me. I envision myself searching, looking, wondering...Our path a crossed, then then pointed in opposing directions... Shall these forgotten promises ever lead us to one final meeting at the end of this path?
Crossing by Leigh Victoria F. G.
Yes, I write songs too. I also add music with my piano or guitar. Very nice poem. Were all searching for someone and wonder where they are after we part. And soon enough the winds of time will blow away our dying memories.
Punctuation is not necessary, and it reminds me of Poe... Wonderful work. Even if it does remind me of Poe...

May the divine darkness be with you,
Leigh

A very thoughtful write, and so true of us all.
We are all footprints in the sand, once the tide has been and gone, so are we.
However, this need not mean we are forgotten,I believe that while someone remembers us we are never truly gone.
