Time
by Regina Pate (Age: 29)
copyright 03-02-2006

Age Rating: 1 to 127

I have no sense of time
I have lost all respect for this system
I beat it like a red headed step child
Who doesn't listen

But just when I think I whooped it good
like Cinderella, it always is on the ball

Only time will tell
and only time can heal

but too much time has passed
and everything else is moving to fast
no matter how hard I try I can't keep up

because time got a head start
I'm starting in the past
Time holds the present
Where is my gift, my precious lesson?

I know in this life I live
the answer is there
I must learn it
and pass it on to others
so with them I can share

do my part, compete with me
release my need to succeed
slow down to breathe

time cannot go faster without out me
nor slower either
I will continue with or without
forever, at the same pace.

So I must focus on where I am needed most
and that is taking time for me
and when I do
from time I will finally be free

Incredible write. Well written. However, I rather have time ahead of me.This way I can look one day at a time and miss not one memory. Incredible write.

We might as well go at our own pace, for we can never catch time. It will always to its own thing.
I think we all need to learn this lesson, just slow down, let time do what it does best, running on ahead.

When you think of time it's all around you
When you don't time flies.
As one frog said to another,
"Time's fun when you're having flies."

Fine little write!

If only we would all heed these word's, we'd all be much more happy. THANK YOU GINA, FOR POINTING OUT, A WONDERFUL LESSON.

Time really doesn't control us. Time goes on without thought and we are the ones that think about it and not it us! You live your life one day at a time, plan for what you might need or want in the future, but no one knows how long or short time will be. Grab hold sometimes the ride is quick and sometimes you can walk beside the train and move ahead, but do live in the moment, because in a moment, the moment is gone! Good poem, Anthony

Hello Regina: Time - our great enemy. It ticks away and we come closer to our destiny. Your poem underscores this brutal fact, resonating and powerful. You provide the knock-out punch in the end. Very good!

"I beat it like a red-headed step-child" is an awesomely evocative and original image of someoneone trying to beat Time, an exhausting miserable exercise in futility that saps the life out of oneself. This work reminds me that Time is a human invention and a form of self-inflicted bondage that keeps one from living in the moment.
Nice write!

Jim
