Looking For Some Truth
by David Pekrul
copyright 03-10-2006

Age Rating: 7 to 127

I wandered 'round this big, wide world,
Just looking for some truth,
The more I looked, the less I found,
There wasn't any proof.

I travelled to Tibetan heights,
But could not find it there,
So then I looked inside of me,
And travelled to despair.

For there was not a bit of truth,
That I could find within,
My heart was filled with bitterness,
And every kind of sin.

The many things that I had done,
The way I lived my life,
Had left me with an emptiness,
And loneliness and strife.

I looked to those who called me "Friend",
But couldn't find it there,
So then I looked to God above,
And sent up one small prayer.

The answer came so suddenly,
It took me by surprise,
I bowed my head in gratitude,
As tears poured from my eyes.

His truth rained down and filled my soul,
And with it came His love,
So now I live in love and truth,
And not the way I was.

Hello David: Very nice, high-spirited piece. Sort of reminds me of "The Razor's Edge," by W. Somerset Maugham where the hero travels to a Tibetan monastery to find the path to enlightenment. But you found it at the source (God). It's a journey we all must make.
