In The Heat Of The Moment
by David Pekrul
copyright 03-14-2006

Age Rating: 10 to 127

In the heat of the moment he did what he did,
With instant regret for the same,
But tried to use reason, explain it away,
And wouldn't accept all the blame.

He knew it was wrong, but lost all control,
His passion now burning inside,
He heard many voices and did what they said,
Although they continued to lie.

They told him she wanted abuse from this man,
Deserving no more and no less,
He listened and did what they told him to do,
She's dead and his life's in a mess.

He wanted to look at her beautiful form,
But never intended to touch,
She tried to get loose from his outward-stretched hand,
But died in his grasp and his clutch.

His life is in torment with blood on his hands,
But shows no remorse, nor a plea,
He'll spend all his days in a room behind bars,
And the voices will not let him be.

Stinging and chilling. Another "ooops, I'm sorry," killer. It's a hard-boiled presentation of what we are capable of whether we intend to be or not! Interesting subject and very well presented, David.
