Please Be Okay

Once,
once there used to be a you
that I did know,
but now,
now I can't figure out
where it is you go
when you hide
behind your eyes--
your lies
and the speed,
and I can't help but wonder,
do you see the reality?
You say it's killing you,
but do you know,
do you know?
How far you can fall?
The weight isn't the least
that's lost.
There's the mind
the inability
to hold a steady thought.
God, I've been there,
I've been there,
So many times.
You know that it's killing you,
but are you willing
to stop in your
decline?
I lay my soul out for you--
my dreams
my hopes
my tears that I have cried
thinking of you
and ask,
if a hand were outreached
would you take it?
Would you break it?
Would you shake the habit
or would you forsake it?
I've been there,
I've hurt there,
and I lay myself out to you
open now,
and wondering,
if you're dying
can you be saved now?

HERE are my dreams,
HERE is the reality,
here is what I scream
when I dream
of the you that you
used to be.
I fear for you
in ways that I never
KNEW were possible
to fear for someone!
I think of you
in thoughts that are passing
and glancing
and days that go by.
YOU made a difference in my life.
YOU shook my foundation--
straight out
cured my frustrations
and just your thought
could bring a smile to my life.
HERE is what I see
when I think of you
now and who you used to be
are tears
and frightened feelings
that one day
I'll think of how you're doing
and the answer?
The answer will be that you're
not doing anything
except being high or wasted
or dead and sedated
under six feet of soil
lost down below.
Here is my fear for you.
Here is the truth.
I think every day of you.
Do you know?
Do you know?
You are the reason
that I worry.
Do you know?
Do you know?

You say that it's killing you....
I say "please don't go".....

I wrote this in response to a poem a friend of mine wrote saying the drugs are killing him...we didn't talk for a while, because I was stuck in my recovery, and not doing too well...and when we started talking once again....he had been doing speed for months. This is my poem and hope he'll be okay.

This is to my mind the BEST poem you've ever written. I just found out a few moments ago a friend of mine died in a car accident. She was addicted to speed, and was HIV positive. I guess in a way, it's better she went this way. I'll never get over your words, they helped me make it through the day. Thanks, Zoe.

Forever,
Skittles.

I hear and understand your voice. I've been there
also, and often am tempted to go back,
but NO WAY, a clear mind and clean body are better. Courageous poem and technically well-written.
a good, smooth read. Best for me was:

The weight isn't the least
that's lost.

Thanks again for sharing,

Rich

MY PRAYER'S GO OUT TO YOU!

You can't make the decision for them, hell it's hard enough to make it for yourself. I have faith in you and I'm here for you if you so need. Though my work is keeping me very busy right now I hope someday to be more free to comment and get to know you again! Love and kisses, Anthony

This is very deep. I don't think we think these things happen to anyone close to us, but they really do. This really jerks that into the light, put in a way even we pitiful creatures called humans can understand a thread of a fellow's pain. Very dramatic, and I liked the bit at the end about why you wrote this poem. It took everything you had said and pushed it into a clearer light. I loved this poem, and I will pray your friend gets better soon.

...Well, wow has been said... I suppose I can just sit here and gape in amazment, and read it a few more times... -is in complete awe- This is phenomenal, so powerful, this is one of those pieces that can really move someone. I just love how you have shaped your words so well, they get the point across so beautifully.
-stares in awe-
-hands her a golden lawnmower, complete with Samaael-
-is still in awe-

Wow this is really dramatic and very to the point -- I like it! It was very well written, and i couldn't find anything in there not worth reading again! Good job!

wow this is just so poweful you really captured the pain and agony of addiction. I cold feel not only your pain but your friends/lovers? pain as well. WOW this is just so amazing.

Wow! This grabbed me by the throat and wouldn't let go. I could feel your frustration and fear, anxiety and concern. How could one continue in the way they are living when someone shows such a love and concern for them? I hope your friend is listening.
This one is worth reading again and again and again.
