Dying Time

Everyone’s talking about getting married,
While I’m still looking for a date to the prom.
People talk about finding the one,
And I’m still waiting on I’mAlone.com

I’m getting chased by the hall monitor again,
While my friends are running from the neighborhood cop.
It’s like people hit life’s fast forward button,
And nobody knows when to stop.

We’re growing up too fast.
The good times will never last.
On Saturdays people have a party or two.
But I’m still wondering what to do.

It’s like eleven year olds are fifteen,
And thirty-two is way too old.
And you should be drinking at sixteen.
And doing drugs wins you the gold.

What happened to society today?
Is everyone going insane?
Or does everybody just want to act older?
But from that, what do you gain?

Nothing but stupid applause,
And stupid mistakes.
And doing things you’re not supposed to.
And pride from you is all it takes.

Why do kids want to grow up?
And adults want to shrink right down.
Why can’t anybody just live in the moment?
And not just wear a frown…

-Saying-

We want to be like the big kids;
Skipping school and making up lies.
And yet when we become the “big kids”,
Time just goes and dies.

Why can’t people just be happy with who they are?
But I guess it would be inhuman if we don’t.
People should try to live in the moment.
I’d tell them if they’d listen, but I know they won’t.

I really enjoyed this piece but it is not one of my favorites by you. Everyone has an opinion which is good because that means you can express yourself. My opinion however is that most the priveleges are awarded to adults, and children want those privelages so they can do more things. Like driving, being trusted, and other things. Plus not everyones childhood is good, like mine it sucks.....Well anyway that is my opinion keep up the good work.

Wow...very good! You're getting so much better! I'm glad you decided to submit this, since it really is a hit. I know you said that you don't think anyone will get it, but no matter what kind of poetry fan you are it's a great piece. Not dark, light, or anything else, it's completely original and creative, a little bit of everything if you will. I'm also glad I could help with the title! Even though it's very true, if your young you want to be old. If you're old you want to be young. And I've got two views on this: One: It's people being indecisive and trying to fit in with their friends. And only annoying other people who don't see why they can't be content. Two: It's already good thing to want to grow up and fulfill your dreams on the other hand. If you have a goal you'll try a lot harder and keep going no matter how hard the wind is blowing against you. And you'll keep trying and trying no matter what. I'm trying to give both sides opinions here... This is a really good poem, and I can't find any flaws! You're getting much better at writing over all and with the evil G. The evil G is grammar. :) And I got to eb the first comment and hit on this! I can say I got to read your poems first once you're famous! :D Great work! Keep it up!

May the divine darkness be with you,
