Hyacinths, cups raised
to catch the sun’s spilling wine,
sway already drunk.

this little jewel of a poem is absolutely perfect, and an easy choice for the winner of my chops contest! your imagery was impeccable and you followed haiku rules to a T. the subject matter was both elegant and whimsical, and treated very well, without being overly sentimental or forced. overall, I'd say this is one of the best poems I have seen on P-n-P!

Congratulations! You have CHOPS!

Oh my goodness is this a Haiku (how the heck do you spell that?) I think it is, so oh bravo, these little masterpieces are one of my favorite types of poetry and yours was a joy to read. I especially loved the middle line, overall a great write. I enjoyed it. Keep up the great writing Tabby.

I don't know anything technically, but I know a whole lot poetically, and in my humble opinion, I think, you rock!, Great write, good job, thanks,

Regina Pate

I agree! This is a very fine Haiku-- majestic, simple and vivid, in this perfect image of two aspects of the phenomenal world that are intricately interconnected and harmonious. Really nice!

I love hyacinths!! They smell so sweet. This haiku is nice and simple. Why didn't I think of this to write about?

How lovely to read a 'true' haiku...let me see,no pronouns, the season inferred but not stated and a single fleeting moment of a natural wonder caught in the mind's eye with a richness and depth that is haunting in its simplicity....and you used the traditional form of 5-7-5 syllables. I can only say Bravo!

Lovely. My favorite flower, I think you do quiet well for a young child. The short poems are sweet and easy to read. I liked this one very much!
God bless,
Mrs. Israelyan
