Abortion... Good or Bad?

Many people in the Catholic religion believe abortion, the killing of a fetus, is bad and should NOT be done at all. Many people say it's a way to freedom again and others say that your committing a murder! In my opinion, I think it's both. I believe in abortion, but before you yell at me, I have my reasons. I also have my reason for not getting abortion too. I'll start with why it can be a good thing. Lets say you were raped, and you got pregnant. Do you really want the to have the baby of a rapist? To always have your child remind you of the horrible things that evil man did to you. Another example, is what if your young and stupid and get drunk, have sex with a guy you know nothing about and you get pregnant. Do you really want to ruin your education? Just think about it. You will miss so much school, and it's not like when you pretend to be sick and watch TV while your parents are at work. You have to take care of your new baby! You have a responsibility now. Oh, and people will talk and it wont be friendly talk. There will be gossip, so much that you will wish you never had your baby.
Now, to the other side of the situation. Lets say you get pregnant and your 17 or 18 and your finishing up your last year of high school. Your almost out of high school and your an adult now. Take responsibility for your actions. If you cant handle a baby you can always give it up for adoption. Give the baby to some loving family that actually wants it and will love it with all their hearts. There are two sides to abortion, unfortunately the for abortion side is longer.

Shannon, I agree with you that there are many reasons that a woman could decide to have an abortion or not, but after all is said and done, the ultimate answer is the woman's right to choose. Good commentary.

A very thoughtful piece and factually well described. I have no beliefs! However, I would not like any girl-friend or wife of mine to have a baby, and I do not like the idea of abortion simply because I'm a tender-hearted guy and I feel for the baby. That being said who am I to judge.
I would like it if people paid the consequences
of their actions. I see only one hard consequence I suppose and that is the pains of labor. After that, one can put it up for adoption and the baby will most likely easily be placed.
I don't judge others, but it would be nice if they judged themselves and strived to be more caring for life, liberty, the earth, and so on.
Well, I probably won't hold my breath.
