The Inquisition.
by Leah Garrison (Age: 20)
copyright 04-20-2006

Age Rating: 16 to 127

Standing in the shadows, breathing fire in the dark
Every time she sees you, her heart is shooting sparks
You never know how closely she watches every step
She's magnetized by your dark eyes
She'll never give you up

Moving softly on black wood, locked in a sort of dance
She wonders if you'll ever give her more than just a glance
All that she is asking for is naked, total truth
She wants to know if it's all a show
Or if you're sure as death

Tears run gently, quietly, trailing down a pensive face
She'll not try to fashion paradise from an already pleasant place
The unasked question lingers in the punctuated air
All you must say is yes or nay -
She isn't after any more

You spoke of smouldering goddesses one night as she did dream
She knows she's too entangled to begin another scheme
Her curious mind wonders why you spoke those very words
You tantalize with expressive eyes
But she's aware of her low worth

So in the darkness like a cloak two people linger still
One enigmatic mystery, one unbending will
Give an answer to her plea, be it sweet to hear or harsh
Tell the girl, let your banner unfurl,
So to end this unbear'ble farce.

This is a poem that many can identify with. I like the imagery and use of language. I look forward to reading more of your work.

This is really nice and a feeling that many have. You feel alone sometimes and wonder if you are the only one that feels this way, but you are not.
We all wonder these things! Anthony
