Feelings Of My Heart (A Villanelle)
by David Pekrul
copyright 04-27-2006

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Regretting all the things I did not say,
And though I know we'll never love again,
The feelings of my heart are here to stay.

Now, you are gone; you said you would not stay,
And tears are falling from my eyes like rain,
Regretting all the things I did not say.

I promised I would love you and not stray,
But that I did, and though it caused you pain,
The feelings of my heart are here to stay.

You said I cheated, now I have to pay,
And now you're gone and I alone remain,
Regretting all the things I did not say.

You have a right to hate me night and day,
But though you think of me with great disdain,
The feelings of my heart are here to stay.

I'll live my final days, then drift away,
Not sharing thoughts with you has been my bane,
Regretting all the things I did not say,
The feelings of my heart are here to stay.

This reminds me of a song by Rascal Flatts called "What Hurts The Most" and I have it posted on my MySpace page. The theme is much the same as your work (only, not the cheating part... but the Not saying what you wanted and were feeling... THAT part's the same).

It flows well and I liked it a lot. I got caught up on the part where you wrote distain.. I think it's supposed to be disdain. Yes?

Hugs hun... and know you touch me with nearly every poem you write!
