Madeaf-mute
and blind
by encircling swelling bubbles
the ringmasters limp along in tight-fitting boots
the band passes them by
as
their soprano silver whistles
enthrall the greens and browns alike
bam!
booz-
led
but we wee are just having a good time
eating frozen ice
cream and blue cotton candy
wee see vanilla-faced dusty-clothed clowns
ghostly-looking long-time unused clowns
playing flutes and dancing 'round
ringmasters whose faces now covered with sweat
fear
ing
what?/
we
don't know
but we wee are just having a good time
drinking from red soda water-
ed glasses and dancing to sounds
of
musical flutes
The clowns are bursting bubbles
flouting flutes
holding up mirrors
ringmasters flee-
ing followed by "rattes"
close on their tails
every thing's in shambles
everyone's mything
darkness and mystery abound
the idols have fallen
if the broken-bubbled limp men don't play
the "phiffer" will be the "kniffer"
and
the "Ratte Wissen" will rule

Well, let's see--I've read this thing several times now, and a picture is beginning to emerge, namely, that life, no matter how well planned, is always more or less a surprise, like clowns from a smoke screen. Fascinating free verse and a most thought-provoking write. Chalk up another one for Rich! Way to go!

I was very intrigued by this poem. It's also enjoyable to find one that makes you step back and try to extract the meaning. Not sure I've been able to do that, but the poem stirred emotions and that's always a plus from any work. The language and construction are unique as are the imagery and symbolism. All in all I was pinned to the page for several readings and enjoyed it thoroughly. Best Regards, Lyle
And yet again I am in awe of your work. The way you weave words is amazing, I am in complete awe of how you creat such masterpieces of words. Reading your work is such a treat, something that, much like Mary, makes me think. You truely have a way with words. I love the last line of this poem, its so... perfect. Even the lack of capitals is perfect. -sighs-
What more can I say? Brilliant.
-bows, leaving him a gold embrodered robe-
Sometimes the facade is to easily seen through and the smoke screen to easily stepped through
The truth is hardly hidden unless we ignore it
The veiled reality where we chose to store it
Sigh... Again... you've got me thinking! That's a dangerous thing to do too! LOL
oh yeah and we all fear what we don't know, but do what you're afraid of, turn your fear into faith, and your negativity into creativity, ok I'm I think hehe
Clowns are scary, but their are amusing, never knowing where they will lead you, the darkness is fun, and it guides our pen, but play in the rain to long and you know what happens I'm afraid. Fun is fine, and so it wine, but warn them please, it ain't worth dyin'
