Introduction
by Regina Pate (Age: 29)
copyright 04-29-2006

Age Rating: 1 to 127

A cold night is leaving
Birds hide in the trees
Patiently waiting
To do as they please

Falling on my ears
Furry squirrels' playful chatter
Here they come
To see what's the matter

Grandma and Grandpa
Are the caretakers here
With them around
We have nothing to fear

Two big dogs
And sometimes three
Who are still not sure
What to think about me

The cats roam
Morning and night
But all is well
For they never fight

My youngest son is
In timeout again
Learning that arguing with me
Is never a win

His brother couldn't make it
This week
I'm trying my best
To learn a coping technique

My daughter is lost
In the woods somewhere
I've been searching for years
It's too much to bare

Without their dad
I'm sure to thrive
but without my kids
I'll never survive

This reality
I refuse to accept
It's too much to deal with
I'm not really adept

One day, I know
I'll have all of my kids
When I'm in control
I'll stop these skids

If I never get married
Or fall in love
Then I'll just put my faith
In the man above

Well, right now
that's all I can say
I'm taking off
I'm on my way

A step at a time
One foot in front of the other
I must keep believing
That I am their mother

I know that I'll make it
Though dark my life seems
'Cause no one can stop me
From following my dreams
