  Caught In The Holocaust

Based on the life of Corrie ten Boom

There once was a lady in Holland,
Her name was Miss Corrie ten Boom,
When Nazis were coming to pillage,
She crafted a small hidden room.

She wanted to help all her neighbours,
For most of her neighbours were Jews,
They came to her, seeking protection,
And not even one was refused.

She knew God was guiding her actions,
She knew He was leading the way,
Whenever she needed direction,
She got on her knees and she prayed.

Now, God had a plan for this lady,
But first she'd be locked in a cell,
In Ravensbruck Camp with her sister,
A place that felt so much like Hell.

She saw many die all around her,
As ovens were stacked to the brim,
The smoke of their slaughter rose skyward,
And life for the living was grim.

But someone had smuggled in scriptures,
And books of the Gospel were read,
And many found hope for the future,
But many more ended up dead.

With everything looking so hopeless,
It seemed that in death she'd partake,
Then prison guards came to release her,
She found it was done by mistake.

Now back with her friends and her family,
Her prayers to the Lord were fulfilled,
She grieved when she found out what happened,
The ones left behind had been killed.

But now she was learning forgiveness,
As Christ forgave those when He died,
She travelled the world teaching others,
And now in God's presence abides.

I thought this was a bit sad. And then i think to myself that most stories in life aren't supposed to all be good. Now there where two lines

She knew He was leading the way,
As Christ forgave those when He died,

You capitalize he and I know that you are talking about someone. However i dont know if you wanted it this way but to me it just seems out of place like it shouldn't be capitalized because you aren't saying a name.

It is nice that you think of someone enough to write a poem. If a poem was written for everyoen in the world's life in someway I think they'd all be unhappy someway. It is wonderful how someone offers their help and keeps nothing fore themselves.

Love this poem.

This is really awesome, too! Don't know how I managed to miss this before... Really great job though, like in church on Sunday, and the pastor said how God will repay the people who prayed to Him and worked for Him like missionaries and stuff. This poem is really great^^.

Wonderful tribute. There were so many who were killed during the holocaust... it's great that you are help getting the story told so that this will never happen again.

David: Wonderful tribute to a courageous lady. One that history will always remember. Your verse is well written and summarizes the tale very well.

That was beautiful. My History took my class to see a program about the Holocaust. It was a terrible event, but it's good to know that some people made lemonade out of the lemons that they were handed by the world. Your poem proves that God's Word can light up even the darkest of places. Great poem.

When you have a reason, things are more clear. So many have no guidance. This was a great tribute to a fine woman and well written. Good job, Anthony
