One Reflection Of a Thousand Eyes

A heavy rain has stopped
Setting free the street musician's song
Whose story floats to deafened ears
A pittance trickles back
The street musician
Is dressed like a fool
With points on his red hat
And bells on each point
He's out there singing, I am toiling
I wear a gray suit I am jealous of his hat
He, a raggedy Andy musician
I, a broker of stocks
A faint drizzle starts descending
He looks up into the rain
Each droplet contains one eye's image
All together reflecting a thousand eyes
And as each raindrop hits the ground
A stream is formed holding one sad eye
And as it flows along the gutter
One eye for all to see
Someone puts a dollar
In the street musician's hand
He smiles
His smile puts a rainbow in the clouds
And as ten thousand eyes
dance in the rainbow
A stream of eyes
Runs down the water drain
Into one eye running out to sea
And in one eye
Ten thousand reflections
Of the Buddha smile

Your Zen backround comes through here. What is really impressive is the specific metaphoric imagery you use, with the tears and the rainbow reflecting the buddha. I have never heard of this comparison before. It is completely original and you pull it off convincingly.
So many perspectives that most of us fail to see
each universe is the sum of God
the beholder's eye, the shining rod
cosmic dreams, reflection's key
What a wonderful write, Richard.
