To be conceived in love, to be cuddled and kept warm
To be fed until satisfied, to be kept from harm
A favorite toy, a teddy bear
To be a child without a care
To grow in love, to play in the rain
To be taught right from wrong, be protected from pain
To be treated equally, have the right to choose
To learn to be gracious, even when they lose
To be educated, to go to school
To live their life without ridicule
Respect as a human, no matter their age
To always be free, not live in a cage
Too many kids have known too much pain
To turn our backs is simply insane
These children we see are the adults of tomorrow
Protect them from suffering, pain, and sorrow
Teach them all that's good and right
To keep their dreams and goals in sight
That no one wins in war and hate
That only they can seal their fate
We can't expect to see a perfect world, when the innocent children of the Earth are being abused. Babies, only months old, dying by the hands they depend on to protect them. It's not a surprise to me that so many people are so disturbed. How can you know the right thing to do, when you were never treated right. It's time to end this horror.

Ahhhh...very nice piece. In a way though, even if a child has all these things, he or she may still be unhappy. Why? Because parents fight, and it can make all the protection seem like nothing. I've resigned to the fact my parents fight, they're going to get a divorce eventually, and that what's left of their love isn't enough. Even though, in the past when I was still small, I couldn't accept things like that. I remember being lonesome with no friends during those times. My education is probably better than most because I'm home schooled and don't have all the distractions and BS of public schools, but it can still be lonesome sometimes.
Anyway, the rhyming really stood out to me in this one! Very flowing, and didn't seem forced or restricting to the poem at all. And I can't rant abouts caps! :) I can agree with all the messages in this poem, even though I'd probably be qualified as a child in the minds of most!
Did you see the newest and perhaps the sickest thing a couple could do to a kid? Put her in the microwave...? Sick, ya?

I strongly agree. Th most significant thing is how a society nurtures it's children; on love or hate or indifference. The role models we set become the patterns of our children to live by and treat them by. Let's nurture them with love and care, and be outstanding role models.
It's so sad how some parents treat their children. Children are tiny and fragile, they deserve to be treating with love anf care and all the best.
Great job!
