The Kiss
by Jaime Romans
copyright 05-22-2006

Age Rating: 13 to 127

A coyote raised its head and let out a mournful cry; whose notes were swept up by the wind as it caressed the mountainside

The sun escaped with shadows dark into a night so blue and as day closed a million stars came dancing into the view

While these scenes were shown to me, my mind was lost in thought; of a man as rugged as these wilds whose heart could not be caught

And how my arms and legs did tremble when his lips touched mine; like joshua trees and sagebrush when winds blow across their kind

This desert with its darkness will always haunt my memory; like moments oh so bittersweet, when that cowboy kissed me

Very nice imagery. I loved the cowboy passionate kiss in the desert also. I really liked how you incorporated your feelings with the coyote howling and the desert winds blowing through. Awesome Story Idea if you ask me. I would like to know more about the cowboy in the desert and his romance and why it would never work out!

Jaime,
welcome to PnP. I can picture the wildness of the desert range and feel the bittersweetness of that cowboy's kiss. Your poem is beautiful in its own way so I would encourage you to keep writing the way that you feel expresses you best.
