The Leaving You (A Song)

by Richard Reed Jr
copyright 05-05-2006

Age Rating: 7 +

Verse1:

When the evening sun sinks low
Deep within my heart I know
All the things I hope to be
Are tied to what you are to me

Chorus1:

And red and gold and purple sunset
Are the colors of your heart
And if I should leave before the 'morrow
The leaving you would break my heart
The leaving you, the leaving you
The leaving you would break my heart

Verse2:

Love may only be a dream
Life a shallow flowing stream
When days are short and nights are long
I'll always sing this evening song

Chorus2:

And red and gold and purple sunset
Will remain within my mind
And on the 'morrow, all my sorrow
Will be the leaving you behind
The leaving you, the leaving you
Will be the leaving you behind

Verse3:

Man must reap what he has sown
The cruel war ever rages on
Some must die, so some might live
This truth is all I have to give

Chorus3:

And red and gold and purple sunset
Will carry me upon the wind
And though I go to war tomorrow
I'll not be leaving you within
The leaving you, the leaving you
I'll not be leaving you within

Chorus4:

And red and gold and purple sunset
Are the colors of your heart
And if I should leave before the 'morrow
The leaving you would break my heart
The leaving you, the leaving you
The leaving you would break my heart
