Never Give Up!
by Richard Reed Jr
copyright 05-10-2006

Age Rating: 1 to 127

The doctors said he would never walk again
But there he goes, one step two steps
Falls
Down to the floor again

Every day
I watch him struggle

One step two steps
Falls

The doctors told him to stay in bed
And he surely is there when they come by
They warn him against false hope
I should keep him in bed
But he's happier this way, one step two steps
Falls

Every day
I watch him struggle

This former athlete
Never knows when to quit
I tell him perhaps
He should be more realistic
He tells me "To succeed one must fail"
Then he sits on the edge of his bed
"Besides this is wonderful", he says
"Six months ago those fool doctors said"
He says with a sly old grin
"I'd never get out of this bed again"

Every day
I watch him struggle, one step two steps
three steps
Falls
