Of their returning
Much as a raped
And half-murdered woman
Fears looking over her shoulder
His head flashes the rigid pinned eagles
The jackhammered foot-beats of
Shiny black leather
His ears reverberate
Frosted ice-edged voices
Echoing echoing echoing
Down the paint-peeling
Hallways of his life
The dragging, pushing, prodding
Like unaware cattle
Interminably milling around
Until finally stuffed into the darkness
Taken away
Even now
He feels dirty
He needs a shower, but fears
Of never returning
He had no right
Being guilty as they were
My God it was only a few names
And yet..................
A door booms in his head
repeatedly
They're here again
He stands listless, vacant
Knowing he has no choice
He slowly opens the door
