-Suicide Goodbye-
by Angela Toshner (Age: 19)
copyright 05-17-2006

Age Rating: 10 to 127

You act like nothings wrong
smile and pass em by.
Your hands clenched tight
around your books.
Your hair covering your eyes.

But what you don't know is,
I saw you yesterday.
Tears running down your face
in an uncontrollable way.

They don't know who
you really are.
They never really will.
They just pretend you don't exist.
They forget about you.

Then the day comes,
when you hand me a note,
hug me, and walk away.
When I read it,
I stare into space,
rush out of the room...

I'm too late.

It was very intense. I notice that a lot of free-verse poems seem to be the most powerful. Its strange how there are a lot of suicide poems now. I sorta like them better then the happy go-merry, fluffy rainbows and unicorns. I'm not a fan of the dark side but I don't like anything to bright. Wish to read more. Talk to you later.

Its short, but powerful. Wonderful poem, I'll read on after this. Your poem is really meaningful, it paints a picture in my head, I can see what your saying. Great first page, I'm going to the next

all too often
it's much too late
to smile at a stranger
ask him who he is
and make him a new friend
all too often
we pass by
never knowing
it's too late again

Thank You for such a heartfelt and beautifully written poem. It overwhelmed me, and I shuddered.

You're such a good person,

Rich

This poem really made me think. I had a friend that I lost to suicide. She never showed any signs of hating her life, she was always so happy and carefree. It was shocking when her parents found her dead that rainy morning. I loved this poem, it reminds me of my friend and the pain she must have felt.

It is a shame that suicide is an option amongst the population of the world. It is a sad state of affairs. That being said, I think you did an excellent job in writing this piece. You kept me interested in the poem until the end. This means that the imagery was superb as well as the fluidity. The story line was gripping and there were no grammatical errors that I could see! Sometimes we are just to late to help! Great write!

A chilly piece that strikes you to the core. In this world i am saddened by the fact that suicide is such a familiar word in our society. I am saddened by the fact some people just can't talk about it. And instead take the long term solution to what are often then not short term problems.
Good write.
