Sinking
by David Pekrul
copyright 06-14-2006

Age Rating: 10 to 127

  Sinking

Sinking in a quicksand,
Of broken hopes and dreams,
Praying for deliverance,
From Satan's wicked schemes.

Looking for acceptance,
I try to find my way,
Tryin' to live a holy life,
But from my God I stray.

Sinking ever deeper,
I fight for every breath,
Haunted by the things I've done,
Until I enter death.

Then I quit my struggle,
And rise up to the top,
God in Heaven rescues me,
His mercies never stop.

Dave... In this day and age, I think too many folks never reflect on their actions or their consequences... the modern age. No one can accept guilt... but they can assign blame.

Hi David,

Thanks for entering my contest, and, YES your poem was flawless as they all are. Jessica's tugged my heartstrings a bit more.

ta,

Rich

This is a beautiful piece of writing. I like the subject, and as always, you have made it seem effortless, with a rythm that just rocks. I hope your vacation was wonderful as well as inspirational, and it's good to see you back.

Wow this is really good, I think you're going to win the contest:P. Your poem is a lot smoother than mine and mine isn't as even and well, yours is like, flawless.
