I, too, loved Cinderella's story
A humble girl blessed with such glory
Not much more than a slave
Got not near what she gave
And ever her step-sister's quarry
A Phoenix she rose from the ashes
Above ridicule and verbal lashes
She befriended the mice
Who were more than quite nice
And helped make a dress from their stashes
A fairy godmother helped her too
To attend the ball that the King threw
She took their breath away
Though not long could she stay
She wore glass slippers is all they knew
The poor Prince, he searched both high and low
Helpers followed where 'ere he did go
Looked for a foot that fit
Wouldn't give up on it
Knew if he kept searching, somehow he'd know
Sure enough, the last lady he let try
With sobs in her throat and tears in her eye
Slid her tiny foot in
With a sigh and grin
The Prince would soon be her husband, her guy
No wonder Maddy loved this simple tale
The timeless message never goes stale
A princess through and through
Glad she's a friend to you
I loved your poem in every detail

Ahh, Cinderella. I like the original, un-'Disnified' version much better. It's also much more graphic, like the stepsisters cutting off their big toe to fit into the slipper. I tried writing my own version of Cinderella, but got caught up in other things. I think it was for the Fairy Tale contest a while back.
Your rhyming is perfect. What is this style called?

And THANK YOU, Aunt BJ. No, No, NO! Don't ready over my shoulder. It wouldn't have been a surprise, then WOULD it? LOL. Yeah (giggle) I AM a sneak, but in a GOOD way! LOL. It was SO great to see you and visit with you, and I'm missing you already. (Sigh) Can't wait to see you again. HUGS! LOVE YOU!!!
How sweet of you to respond in such a way! I'm honored! Maybe I SHOULD have been reading over your shoulder while you were writing this! J/K
This is really sweet, but you really are a sneak! Love ya!
