Darkened night
Open my eyes only to see no light
Some might say I have lost my sight
But once in a while I can see something bright
In order to get there I must win this fight
Between the Devil and I, I have to do what’s right
The poison’s unbearable from that small bite
I am lost and alone and in a great fright
Oh, but there is that light that I see every night
Giving me strength to go on, and my wings take flight
I can see Heaven’s gate and it’s shining so bright
I’m coming into the sky and being freed from the night
