My Boy John
by Deborah Thomas (Age: 48)
copyright 07-08-2006

Age Rating: 10 to 127

You were an unexpected joy, my boy with eyes of blue.
My girls were born to me and gone, my aching arms held you.

Though I did not hold you as a babe, as most mothers do,
You were my son, my only son, I found my joy in you.

For you I played the mother that my daughters never knew.
Now I’m blessed to have you three, where once were only two.

You were an unexpected joy, my boy with eyes of blue.
And now you’ve grown to be a man, and I’m so proud of you.

Oh my! This one really tugs at my heart. It makes me think of my grandsons and all I want to do for them, that I wasn't able to do for my daughter! I like the rhyme and the flow of this. Good job!!

Awhhh, this is so sweet! A mother's love is hard to duplicate isn't. There is nothing like it. I feel your sorrow and pride in this piece that it almost brings me too my knees! Great Job Deborah!

Hi Deborah,

It's so beautiful to see how you dote on your children. You must be a wonderful mother and I'm sure that they love you as much as you love them.

I loved the sentiments in your poem as well as the style.

All my best to you and your family.

Always your friend,

Rich

Here's the points I should have awarded, now that I have some.

What a wonderful tribute to someone you love. This has such a nice, easy flow and is a joy to read. It is definitely worth five points, and I would award them if I had any, but I have no points left, none, nada, zip; oh, whoa is me! lol
