Dragons and castles and yesteryear's Kings,
Witches and wizards abound.
Watch in the woods, for the elves that live there
And trolls wreaking havoc in town.

Arrows are shot from a longbow nearby,
A fair maiden in danger is saved.
Shining in armor, her knight's riding in
He's handsome, and charming, and brave.

Watch out for that ogre under the bridge
He'll charge you, if you want to cross.
And don't try to cheat and cross on the rocks,
They're slippery, covered with moss.

Enter the woods, and what should you see?
Is it real, that unicorn grazing?
I love being here in this fantasy world.
It's beautiful and so amazing.

I want to stay here, in this land of my dreams
Where fairies and wonders abound.
And after I've been on a Pegasus flight
I won't want my feet on the ground.

It's time to grow up and leave this behind.
But then, when no one's in sight,
I'll return to this land that's forgotten by most
Just by closing my eyes real tight.

Since I'm extremely partial to the world of fantasy, which is sometimes my reality, I'm almost hesitant to say anything. For fear of being considered biased. Well, I am. But that doesn't prevent me from being able to really appreciate this piece.

The rhythm, the flow, especially the imagery, all caught my mind's eye and transported me to a world in which I'm very comfortable.

This is a fine presentation, filled not only with wonderful images, but also with action and movement. That's a hard thing to accomplish. You did all of these and more, very nicely!

WHO THE HECK CARES HOW OLD YOU GET?!?!?! IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN IMAGENATION, YOU ARE A DEAD PERSON IN A LIVING BODY.
I ALWAYS visit my fantasy world before going to sleep. I just lay there and say hi to all of my friends on my way to sleep. I daydream about them too. It's so awesome, isn't it? My fantasy land is full of unicorns and anime characters!! XD It's pretty cool.

Oh my gosh this poem is soooo awesome. I loved the rhyme and rhythm, since I cannot write rhymed things to save my life. I really admire people who can rhyme. No complaints here!

Ooh... I LOVE this poem and the topic is awesome too. I entered a contest once and wrote a fantasy poem which was new for me as I always write about mushy love stuff, you know? If you ever want to read it... here it is:

Oh, and yours get ten thumbs up! ;-)

You've touched on something that I just love - fantasy. When I read books, it is usually fantasy books, as I find that the authors have such great imaginations. They help me escape the real world for a time. Your poem has also done that with its images of wizards, elves and trolls.

I love fantasy and this poem really touched me. You see when I was a little kid, all I could think about was growing up and now that I'm a teenager with all the responsibilities of one, I long to go back to my childhood days where everything in the world seemed like magic and it was so easy to be yourself and to make friends who shared your same interests. But even though I'm more grownup doesn't mean that I always have to act like it and everyone still has their memories which we can go back to and relive those precious moments. Fabulous write!!

Wow, this is all the beautiful fairy tales rolled into one. Growing up was very painful for me- still is! This warmed my heart. It was everything a poem should be.Delightful, with good imagery, rhymes and rhythm.

Awesome,

Thanks for the good read,

Rich

I like all of the enchanged imagery, and the way that the words flow. It's a nice poem about a subject I love, and very pleasant to read.

Thank you, Brian, for being my inspiration for this poem. :) Your book, Neverworld, is my kind of book!

This is my sort of subject.
Great rhyme and rhythm, it skips along.
Such a refreshing change to get away from the usual he loves she loves, and religion.
This would be a good start to a book of children's poems.
Of course I believe in fairies and the little people. So maybe I'm biased.
Whatever, just keep them coming like this.
Brian
