If There Ever Was a Reason

If there ever was a reason
to say good bye to you,
it's the special brand of treason
that your heart put me through.

In all my faults and folly
I could not understand
how you could claim to love me
then punish me by hand.

I never could quite fathom
the darkness of your Soul,
and my small light was not enough
to ever make you whole.

And so I've learned a lesson
that I will carry true
There is more freedom in "goodbye"
than there was in loving you.

I totallyl agree with Rich. That was a great closing to this piece! Having the strength to leave someone you love, is an admirable quality. But knowing that you have to leave is just as admirable.
