Wet cement on the roadside - People walking by
There is nowhere to move as people run
They squeeze on by – getting by...

Saw some letters in wet cement
Spelled a name I never met
I wonder, I could not help but wonder…

Who was the girl that wrote her name in wet cement?
Just no initials please - I’ll never guess your name

Why do we write our initials in wet cement?
You’ll just never guess the name behind the face
Some little bit just left behind
Show them strangers where you spend your time

Tell me your name, the name behind the face
Don’t hide in the crowd - when you want to sing out loud…

Wet cement on the roadside- People walking by
Did you put your foot in the wet cement…
Leave your mark that heaven sent?

Wet cement on the roadside- People walking by
Bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye - Goodbye

Hi Gregg;
You sure have an interesting topic choice. When I was reading the poem the first time I found myself smiling remembering some personal experiences with wet cement. Such a great material for leaving a personal mark on the world.
My second read I went over the work more minutely. I think after the third read that I was left with a few concerns with the unevenness of the verses and rhyme being broken. I might try to even some of that our and the impact of the images could be enhanced by some subtle changes and additions.
Still a good read. Feel free to ask for more feedback, directly if you wish..

Well I really like how you wrote this poem. It was kind of confusing because some words rhymed and others didn't. I liked your choice in topic we read many different poems about emotions and stuff, but i dont think i have ever read a poem about cement. This does bring back a childish memory of me walking to one of my friends houses and I was wearing these really cute pink flip flops and i wasnt paying attnetion so i accidently walked directly into wet cement and ruined my new sandals. It was very funny and me and my friend look back on it to this day and thibk of my footprints in the cement. I really love this poem and how it relates to one person and I like how it is in someway mysterious. Also i didn't see any errors but i am still trying to advance in anglish and writing so i mprobably not one of the people you would ask to revise stuff. I will check out some of your other work and i hope it was as good as this one.
5 points praise =P
