Whistle In The Park... After Dark

Media Vita En Morte Sumas –
Let’s take a walk in the park…

I was walking alone in the park,
The shadows grew, it was getting dark.
I felt the presence of eyes around me,
My hands shook, my body trembled.

When I looked around there was no one there.
Stranger faces hidden somewhere.
My palms got wet as I puckered my lips,
As if to kiss, as if to kiss.

Whistle In The Park after dark,
Just remember not to look around.
Whistle In The Park after dark,
Don’t turn your head around.

My pace quickened and my pulse beat louder,
Louder than a drum.
When I started running I heard their laughter,
I was full of fear. They yell…

It doesn’t do you no good to whistle in the dark.
What kind of fool are you to think that you’ll get through,
The park…after dark?

I was trying to hide in the park,
The shadows moved and the moon was bright.
I heard the whisper of a voice surround me,
Shook my soul deep within me

When I turned around I knew he was there,
He wore a slicker but he only stared.
He worried me stiff as he puckered his lips,
As if to kiss, as if to kiss.

Whistle In The Park after dark,
Just remember who is on your heels.
Whistle In The Park after dark,
You never have a second chance.

My days were numbered in the fog of London,
He carried a shear.
He cut the ribbon that held my memory,
I was no longer there. He yell…

It doesn’t do you no good to whistle in the dark.
What kind of fool are you to think that you’ll get through,
The park…after dark?

Whistle In The Park... after dark.
Whistle In The Park... after dark.

These lyrics were written after the murder of John Lennon

Create and hold mind trigger attacks, emotion spreads, run a thousand images, well done, Walt

These words have a whole different meaning for me than they did before. You see, in June I visited New York City and walked through Strawberry Fields and stood at the spot where John Lennon was murdered. This poem/song brought back all the feelings I felt during that visit.

Once again this should have the music playing.
You do get that feeling of the underlying fear, which most times is just our imagination.
I was out on a country lane in the near pitch dark, convinced that someone was following me. It was a case of fight or flight, I decided to fight, hid in the recess of a farm gate ready to attack. The follower caught up with me, it was a dog, it looked every bit as apprehensive as I.
As someone said, the thing to fear is fear itself.
