The World's Insanity
by Haley R. (Age: 14)
copyright 07-22-2006

Age Rating: 7 to 127

We’re stuck and out of luck,
In a world that never really cares.
Where people wish for things,
That will never end up being their’s.
Why don’t dreams come true?
And why won’t the lies just disappear?
It seems like growing up is useless,
When you’re already in a world of your own.

And lies are just like wishes,
Or dreams that you know won’t come true.
Coming home wanting kisses,
When you get a smack in the face instead.

What’s happened to the kind and just?
And where have the evil been coming from?
Is there anyone we can trust?
Or will the end of the world come?
And the loving, where are they?
And why can’t people ever see
That everything’s ok,
When you’re people like you and me?

Ok, I’ll admit
That things can be much worse.
But if I take one more hit,
I think I’ll crash and burst.

‘Cause all the good men left.
They all were shot down by my faults and my destruction.
The pain’s my alibi
The devastation of the world causes obstruction,

But nobody cares,
They’re too caught up in there selfish ways.
And nobody dares
Take the world out of its daze,
Afraid of what might happen to them.

Will anyone step up and stop the insanity?

Such wisdom and insight from one so young. I agree with all you say. Unfortunately it is the nature of man to be this way. Even those we perceive as good, invariably have feet of clay.
Do keep writing, you have a talent.

really good poem, heartfelt and truthful. The world sadly is not going to change by itself,it needs help. the one verse i dont really understand is the
"‘Cause all the good men left.
They all were shot down by my faults and my destruction.
The pain’s my alibi
The devastation of the world causes obstruction,"
maybe you could make a slight change in that bit. But apart from that..i just cant believe that someone so young can write something so good. hope to read more

A heartfelt poem, expressing despair over the hopeless condition of the destroyed world of today. Wars, nothing new. Corruption, detestable but nothing new. Pain, utterly vile, but nothing new. And all because nobody has yet to succeed in turning a world into one of peace and joy. Sure, many people tried, but heck, one person out of a century doesn't cut it. We *all* need to try. Great poem, Haley! Love the meaning, the rhyme, the words, and the grammar. Write more!
