Weary Eyes Are Lifted Up

Weary eyes are lifted up

To see the admiration waiting there

I never knew you ever saw me

When looking at you stare

Guess you KNOW just what's inside

And my sacrifice was worth it then

My hidden treasures of the heart

Seen 'tween the lines of scribbled pen

Doing what I could, what I can

What I should for children and home

Planted seeds within their hearts

And patiently I've watched them grow

Though I may not have touched the stars

Or achieved all I once did dream

And though some think my life is empty

Void of value, or so it seems

I know the true worth of sacrifice

Like Jesus did for me one time

Giving everything for their happiness

Is my duty, more than merely kind

I don't care what others see

I didn't do it for them anyway

Beauty pageant pretty or not

Outside looks only get in the way

Instead I focus on who I am inside

And what worth I am is gauged by that

My children will remember me fondly

Not if I was pretty, thin, or fat

Thanks, as weary eyes are lifted up

To see the admiration waiting there

I never knew you ever saw the real me

When gazing in your constant stare

Something on the verge of visionary, as it is a write filled with endless possibilities, and mind triggers, sound on the ears felt good. Walt

This is a most beautiful stanza, the kind one stares at in awe and wonders how you could have thought of it.

The entire piece is beautiful and beautifully written, as beautiful as I see your heart.

What a beautiful poem. And in case you didn't realize it, many more than just your children will remember you fondly for that and so much more. Great job on this one!

This is a most excellent write, digging at the heart of what reaching higher truely is. For those who put themselves first will be last and those who put themselves last will be first.

Being a mother is one of the most important and honourable jobs in the world. Fathers cannot do the job that a mother does. I like this poem alot.
"Though I may not have touched the stars" - you're absolutely right. I think mothers reach out way past the stars.
