Turn Around
by Ajda G. (Age: 16)
copyright 08-10-2006

Age Rating: 13 to 127

You say you’re not good enough.
You with your laughter-eyed smile
Though you think you’re so tough.

I see how you look around
When you want people to laugh with you
And you get looks, not sound.

You say you’re the screw up of everyone here
But we both know that you’re brilliant.
It’s better to read you by feel than by ear.

I see how you act like you don’t know
When the answer is right in front of your face.
And don’t think that the shadow won’t grow.

Turn it on
Turn it down
Turn it up
Turn around
And know
That the one thing you always have had
Is close.

I know how the world appears in your eyes
That everyone is guilty until proven innocent.
But I’m the patch of clear through the clouds in the skies.

You can pretend all you want that things are as they’d seem
And that the look in my eyes is cold.
But you can’t say you don’t see the obvious gleam.

If only you’d see the reverse side to things
About killing with kindness and hard-coated candy.
Sometimes uncaring ways have better meanings.

You can think you have nothing at all
When the world is at your feet.
It’s time to see what’s truly small.

Turn it on
Turn it down
Turn it up
Turn around
And find
That the one thing you always have had
Is kind.

Like the standstill sun as you move past
Where everything moves except for it
This part of you will always last.

I know my eyes are not clear seas
Rather muddy lakes covered in debris
But swim deep and you’d avoid this disease.

See the glow of the things that are bright
During the moon’s hazy reign in the sky
With the guide of this tiny black light.

If one rainy day you find that I’m gone
Remember that look that I gave you.
It wasn’t dark but as bright as the dawn.

So
Turn me on
Turn me down
Turn it up
Turn around
And see
That the one thing you always have had
Is me.

This is a good poem, quite unusual, but I think it works. I like the repeated part evenly spaced between the rest of the poem.

Well done!

P.S I would have given you some praise points but I am very low due to being away from this site for nearly 2 years.
