Finding My World
by Emily Garwood (Age: 21)
copyright 08-11-2006

Age Rating: 13 to 127

I'm without words,
Without my voice,
I sing my words,
But nothing can be heard.

I wanna' reach for my voice,
But it's not where I left it,
I need to open up,
I need to try; try and shine.

Stepping up,
Taking my place,
I'm a mum,
I'm a wife.

A smile on my face,
I grab my voice,
I'm gonna take my time,
I'm going to let go of my past.

I'm gonna' fall into my new world,
Stand up, and keep on walking,
It's my time,
Time to breakaway from what I was.

I'm going to speak up,
Make sure you hear me,
This is just so you know,
I'm okay, and all these tears are drying.

Nothing can stop me now,
I have a life without you,
I've learned to love and trust,
This is my new world.

I loved your usage of "Your voice" in this poem. This is very insightful, well-expressed, and well written.
Life is full of new beginnings or as I like to think of them -adventures. The journey is most times better than the destination.

Your friend,

Emily, leaving the pain and hardships of a former life can be hard, but very rewarding in the grand scheme of things. Heartfelt write.

Life is full of new beginnings! Some people only get a few and when anew is upon us it gives us strength to over-come the past. I loved this poem. It reads nicely and has great form and meaning. I commend you on writing such a nice piece and I hope you or at peace with your choices. Good Luck and Great Write!
