Summer is here again,
I don't need anything.
Praise the glory days!
I look to the stars in the sky-
look to them for hope.
Peace is not with me.
The rain speaks to me like a hungry child.
Don't make fun of my slow feet.
I want to live.
A century has passed...
ask me a question.
People want more than they need.
Home sweet home.
Are beauty and riches so necessary?
Fashion is confusing,
yet the world goes round.
Better buttered popcorn.
Everyone needs to be needed.
Light from a candle burning in darkness-
my precious childhood.
* I wrote this last year in my Honors English class. Our teacher had us do a poetry activity where she would read a line to a poem and we would have to write down anything that came to our minds.

Once again, I do seldom give five stars, but when I do, I like to explain why. This peace is called "Random Writing," yet every line, sentence and thought, is interconnected. Like little snapshots of life, the sentences in this piece made me stop and think about life itself. There are wonderful one liners here, such as, "Praise the glory days!" We tend not to do that and when they're gone, we suddenly think of the wonderful times we had. "The rain speaks to me like a hungry child." Once again, personification of Nature and how we deal with it. This is wonderful. Nature is a hungry and rambunctious child! It does what it wants and we have to deal with it or move out of the way. "People want more than they need." This is so true and because people do want more than what they need is the reason why we suffer as we do! And lastly, "Light from a candle burning in darkness- my precious childhood." This is so true! We come here as children, to learn and be enlightened, lit by the light of hope and wonderment, but if not guided, nurtured and respected, our light can suffocate and extinguish, only to be lit again by he who is enlightened! This is a great piece of poetry and I commend you for it!!!!
