How does Granddad spend his day,
When with me, he cannot play?
Don’t you think it’s very cruel,
That I spend my time at school?
Granddad needs my company,
I love him and he loves me,
I think I should stay around,
So his face won’t wear a frown.
He can tie a fishing knot,
And he knows a fishing spot,
Where the fish are big and strong,
And they grow to ten feet long.
Grandma says that once he worked,
When I told him, he just smirked,
Now I don’t know what to think,
He just gave a little wink.
Granddad said it was no lie,
He was quite a handsome guy,
As a teen he was a dream,
Now he’s somewhere in between.
Me and Granddad are best friends,
But at times he just pretends,
That he is annoyed with me,
But I know that cannot be.
One day I will be like him,
Very old and kind of grim,
When I am, I hope there’ll be,
Grandkids that are just like me.
