Drowning in Pressure
by Jessica P. (Age: 15)
copyright 08-29-2006

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Comics, books and magazines
Are strewn around the floor
Posters of the favorite band
Are taped up to the door

The gossip flies and eyelids bat
Makeup on the face
Nails so many colors now
And hair tied up with lace

Be like this and look like that
Is all that can be said
Pressure is a lot these days and
Fake beauty gos to the head

Think like this, no other way
The rules that are laid down
Don't be different, it's just not good
In this many girls drown

I used to be like that, always having to look absolutely perfect, but over the summer that I learned that I don't have to wear as much make-up and look fake. I used to wear dark eyeliner, I curled my lashes and put two coats of mascara on and of coarse lots of eye shadow and lip gloss. but I know now that I don't have to wear all that make (even though it was really cute. it took me forever to go anywhere too.) Now I just wear one coat of mascara and eye liner and just a little lip gloss. lip gloss is the one thing I cant go with out. lol People who have true inner beauty are very very lucky. On my good days I can go with out make-up.
Good job!

This is a great poem about peer pressure and trying to fit the mold. It skipped along with great energy and rhymed well.
