Pleading With God
by David Pekrul
copyright 09-02-2006

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I call upon the courts of God’s own paradisal home, that sit and judge all those of us who roam,

And plead my case, in which I really must believe that Heaven always helps the ones who truly will receive,

And call to task our God and Holy Spirit’s Son, who made the Earth and helps the whole thing run,

And reason with His mercy and His own eternal grace, that He will let us keep our home in space.

For it is He who made the land and sea, and everything that ever was and ever came to be,

And all we ask is for a bit of time to see if we can change to people quite sublime.

A thousand years with you is but a single day, so please, almighty God, just let us rule the day,

To see if we can do it right this time, instead of leaving everything in turmoil, ruin, and awful crime.

I know we didn’t do the greatest job at first, but with your help, this time we won’t be cursed,

For if we try to do the things you say, we’ll walk the path and no more will we stray.

Instead, we’ll find the brotherhood you taught us to have, and it will be a healing and a life-enhancing salve.

Oh, Father God, remember what your only Son went through, and how He said, “They know not what they do”.

Well, we are much the same as those from past, but maybe this time we can make peace truly last.

Besides, ours wasn’t just a wasteful, useless time on earth; we did some things that ought to have some worth,

Like finding cures to some diseases and some awful pain, to help our neighbours without thought to our material gain,

And helping those in countries who are suffering from war; we gave to them the things we had in store.

I know that isn’t quite enough to offer unto you, for where you sit, you always see the bigger world-view,

But that is all we really have to offer now, so please accept our sacrifice and save our earth somehow.

I have done it! But, I did not get to enter. I took too long. Once I decided that I don't agree with staying on earth, I quit, but Mary begged me to finish what i started... I did it in the nick of time, but my final version was not approved before the contest ended.
If you read my rebuttal, "Man vs God? No Contest", you must also read the second comment I made to Mary's entry. I spoke of making a play with all three of our views in 'Contest Verse' proclaimed! snicker... I think it may work. We shall all three be credited our part! Tell me
what you think! Once again I say 'Bravo' to your entry. Debbie

Do I dare proffer my own ideas in face of such strong arguments? I fear my pleas would only hinder the success of your case, seemingly strong at present. I will try my best though!

Ah, David! I am going to have to give this a try, but you have done an outstanding job.. I probably don't have a reasonable shot at a win.
Whether I win or not, this is a most challenging subject, and I must at least give my view.
Good luck, Debbie

Before me you stand oh poet, present your case for the few unlike you that spread the vile of poison for the rest to see and oft forget about me, air and sea corrupt by ideas not of mine but created for a life upon a Paradise killed, by better than and greed, what happened to my seed, argument accepted, now let me pause think
