Love is....
by Denise Johnson (Age: 28)
copyright 09-24-2006

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Love is knowing you will always be there,
Love is just simply knowing you care.
It's an unexpected text to see if every things OK,
An understanding smile at the end of a hard day.

Love is being able to make me laugh,
Love is tenderly washing me in the bath.
It's bringing me soup when I am unwell,
It's how you know more about me then I'd care to tell.

Love is capturing that little spark in your eye,
Love is trusting that you would never lie.
It's how you always remember all those important dates,
It's how easily our lives entwined, as if it was fate.

Love is knowing you'll catch me if I ever fall,
Love is being able to say nothing at all.
It's not reacting to harsh words during times of stress,
It's realizing that each of our lives are truly blessed.

Love is how you watch me while I'm asleep,
Love is how your touch still makes my heart leap.
It's feeling so safe when I'm in your arms,
It's knowing that you would never purposely let me come to any harm.

Love is how you support me in such a loving way,
Love is how we talk for hours at the end of every day.
It's how I still tingle when you breath on my skin,
To me your love means everything.

Thank you Denise: You shared beautifully a bit of what love is. We get a large dosage of what it is not. You captured the opposite in simplicity and sincerity. It was a nicely done work which I found inspiring. Dale

I am so pleased to see this kind of writing-- sincere, open, and heart-felt, without a lot of preamble and commentary that sometimes has been longer and more confusing than the write, itself, that tells the world what love should be. And doing it in a gentle, skillful way with rhythm and choice of words and respecting your reading audience. The respect with which you treat your work shows the respect you offer us. For that, I can only offer a warm, "Thank You."

Glad you dropped by to one of my poems so I was able to find your work.
Voiced very nice...connecting on this level (soul mates). A special presentation.
Thanks!

Susan

I think this is the sweetest rendition of love I have ever read. I loved it so much. I feel exactly the same for my husband of five years. I hope to grow old with him because of how I feel and how he makes me feel and how we are there for each other like you have explained here! Great Poem Denise! Tammy F.
