Simple Things
by David Pekrul
copyright 09-26-2006

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Simple things remembered well,
Of times so long ago,
And it's those things I need to tell,
Before I have to go.

Just simple things of childhood,
And things I hold so dear,
To tell how I remember them,
From year to year to year.

Just simple things I did each day,
When I was but a kid,
Yet simple things were precious times,
I loved the things I did.

Like climbing trees and building forts,
And playing in the dirt,
And then when I was older,
In my teens I loved to flirt.

The girls were such a wonderment,
And I was so enthralled,
But most of them were out of reach,
Or so I do recall.

A simple job, a simple life,
But when the day is through,
I am content with what I have,
I have more than I knew.

For now my life has come full round,
And I am looking back,
And as I do I see the boy,
Who never suffered lack.

Those simple things held hidden wealth,
Which money could not buy,
And in them I will find my rest,
Until the day I die.

I remember when life was simple, no it wasn't easy but it was great. I love this poem because it reminds me of those simple times. Keep up the good work!!!

Aw this is really cute^^ I like it a lot. And you know what's wierd? Is how people buy things they think they need to be happy, when memories are the things you'll always keep, probably even when you die, and you can't take material objects with you after you die, so there's really no point in a lot of things people buy.

But yeah, anyway, this was really cute I love it.^^

Truly is amazing poem. However, I will not get into my childhood. To depressing and painful for me. I truly did enjoy your words. Quite wonderful.

This is so nice, too bad my childhood memories are of a drunken father and a pill popping mother. There better now, but still.

Oh and the poems are about how I feel. They are not fiction. I would email you but I dont know whats going on with my email, I cant get any or send any. I asked Bob about it, but he hasnt responded.

Childhood memories are very special, whether growing up int the country or the hustle and bustle of city life. You've captured the spirit and the delight of the past. Nicely done.

Memories of childhood, the wonderful pictures they recall. You have captured the essence so well.
I wonder, did the sun really shine all summer long? Was school so terrible? I remember that our teachers were either scary women or dodery old men,,,,lol.
Even though that madman Adolf was having our cities bombed, life as I remember it was good.
Thanks for bringing it back.
