Iron Friendship... Broken

  Iron Friendship... Broken

Shared with someone
You can have happy times with
You can be yourself with
Someone you can do stupid things with

Friendship is
Helping your other half
Taking care of your partner
Pulling each other through

Looking after each other
Giving each other strength
Keeping one another courage
Holding the other up tall

**********

I waited for you
I waited for a really long time
And I thought I found you
I thought I found you

We shared everything together
You were my other half
The one I could always talk to
One who knew everything about me

You were the one I always turned too
If I needed help
Or if I had something awesome
I always wanted to share it with you

Friend of my heart
You were so different from me
But we were always there
To hold each other up

You always held me up
And you were like my role model
We were best friends for a while
Seven years is no small time

But...

You and I were always expected
To be seen together
Inseperable from each other
But you left me alone

We grew up together through
Lower School
But you left me alone
As we entered Middle School

My heart tore in two
And my pain was terrible
It was so hard to let go
This special person

Many tears I shed
Many days I couldn't sleep
Many times I called your name
But you wouldn't turn around

You wouldn't wait for me
No matter how many times
I tried to make you wait
You wouldn't wait for me

You went ahead
And I tried to stay with you
But I just couldn't keep up
So all I could do was watch

I watched desperatly
As you changed without me
Always looking for the person
Who didn't exist anymore

I think I have failed you
And you fell into darkness
Because I couldn't hold your hand
And it's not enough to say sorry

You won't listen to me anymore
But I'll say I'm sorry
And that I wish things could have been different
But the person who was my best friend

fell into the void.

*This is a poem dedicated to a real friend of mine. This situation really happened with us.*

I'm so sorry for you and your friend. Perhaps one day if you are truly optimistic you two will meet up again in the world after school when she has realized what a truly good friend you were to her and maybe you can see it in your heart to forgive and love her again and together in the real world things will be back to normal and maybe even better. Don't give up hope and always strive to be the best friend it will come back in waves... I promise!
Great write and sorry again for your loss and sadness!
One more thing please before I go... I would love to see some more punctuation in this, it would really shine your heart through like crystal!

I know the same exact story. I had a best friend in Pakistan. We were exactly alike; we even looked alike. But then, I had to move halfway around the world. And when I visited, she didn't remember me. It rent me, it reminded me of all I lost. I only remembered what I gained when I came back to the US. Great job, Euna! I love this write; it has much feeling and meaning woven into great words, and it's really superb!

This is very haunting, sad because it's true, and because it's real life. Oddly enough, between the lines I read an optimistic heart beating in the chest of the writer.

~Awesome piece~
